Our condolences to the Forsman/Tuari whanau on the passing of Acardia’s Koro last week.

Our condolences to the Swinton-Robertson’s whose whanau member was in an accident and has sadly passed away.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Last Friday the Intermediate Hub was lucky enough to have Miggy come to visit our hub. Miggy is deaf, he worked with us on learning New Zealand Sign Language. We have spent the last term learning some basic sign and Miggy helped us by adding to our knowledge. We learnt how to say useful words that we would use in our everyday life like playground, brother, sister, daughter, son and sports (to name just a few). We all noticed how hard it is to

communicate with someone who is deaf. Everything we couldn't sign (yet) had to be written down. This inspired us to learn more! The more we can sign, the more we can communicate with the deaf. A huge thank you to Mrs Delahunty for organising the visit from Miggy. By Intermediate Hub students

On Monday 20th May we will be celebrating with our Filipino community the Santacruzan Festival. Please join with us at 9.00am to share in the celebration.

It was very special to share in the Baptism Mass with our students and their families last Thursday. Thank you to Sarah Saunders for preparing our candidates and the Mass and to the presiding priests, Father John and Father Michael. Many thanks to Kristine Lafferty for capturing this special Mass through her photographs. PHOTO’s

Please note the change of day to Wednesday 22nd May, for the Sacred Heart open morning for our year 8 girls. This change is due to the NZEI teacher strike on the 29th May.

If you have not yet paid your Netball registration fee, please make this a priority as payment is due BEFORE play. Thank you.

Build and Play Programme. Thank you to the adults who have volunteered their time over the next two weeks to assist with this programme. If you are able to help, please contact your child’s teacher, (if you haven’t already) as more help is needed - thank you.

Dear Parents and Caregivers, RE: Sacramental Programme 2019 The Sacramental Programme for 2019 will be commencing this term. The Sacramental Programme is for all those who are in Year 4 and over, who have been baptised and are ready to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion. The Sacramental Programme will be lead through the school, during school hours. The programme will be led by myself, Sarah Saunders, the Sacramental Programme Co-ordinator with close consultation with Jane Carter our Director of Religious Studies (DRS) here at Our Lady of the Rosary School. Chaucey Ellis, a parent of the school and parish representative will be assisting with the programme. Father John and Father Michael will also be involved in the programme. The first Sacramental Parent Session will take place on Tuesday 28th May from 6.30 – 7.30pm, which will be held at school. At this session Parents and Caregivers will receive information regarding the programme. The Sacramental Programme is regarded as a home/school/parish programme with each taking a shared responsibility for educating and supporting our children in the development of their faith. The children will make their First Reconciliation on Thursday 13th June, at 6pm, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. We will be joining Sacred Heart Petone and San Antonio to celebrate Confirmation together on Sunday 4th August. The First Communion lessons for the children will be in Term 3, leading to the First Communion Mass on Sunday 8th September, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Due to a number of small costs to run the Sacramental Programme here at Our Lady of the Rosary School, we are asking if you could please pay $15 per child. This money will be going towards certificates, printing, candles, necklaces etc. If you have any problems or queries regarding this fee, please do not hesitate to see me at school or send me an email at [email protected]. Please send your money to the school office. If your child/children will be receiving the Sacraments this year, please fill in the form below and return to the office by Friday 17th May. Please send a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate if your child was NOT baptised at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. It is a real privilege to be involved in this programme and I look forward to working with you all during this very special time. Kind Regards Sarah Saunders [email protected]
