How To Ride• Arrive five minutes early, signal driver with wave to indicate you want to board.
• Have exact fare ready; driver does not make change.
• Climb on board, pay fare if leaving city limits. Let the driver know where you would like to get off.
• One block from your stop, pull the cord above the window or push “Stop Request” to signal the driver.
• Collect your belongings and exit.

• All animals must be under control of their owners at all times. They must be in a carrier or remain seated on the floor in front of you.
• No loud or disruptive behavior.
• No unnecessary conversation with the driver while the bus is moving.
• Use designated crosswalks after the bus has pulled away.
• Remain seated while the bus is in motion if possible.
• No smoking.
• No weapons.

Bikes on BusesSAM and STAR buses are equipped with bike racks. Bus drivers are knowledgeable about the use of the bike rack. Bikes are subject to space availability. Use at your own risk.

Children Under EightChildren under 5 years of age must have an adult over 16 years old with them for their entire trip. Children 5 through 7 years old may ride the bus alone if there is an adult at the place of departure and arrival. One adult may supervise a group of up to three children. To make arrangements for your child to ride when no adult supervision is available, please contact the transit director at 503-489-0925. Children under six ride free.

More About STARSTAR is a general public curb-to-curb dial-a-ride service that provides transportation within the Sandy city limits. The service area can be extended up to 3-miles subject to availability. Anyone can use it within Sandy or to connect with SAM or Mount Hood Express.
Reservations can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance. Reservations must be made by 5:00 pm the evening before the needed service. Customers certified as ADA eligible are guaranteed a trip if booked by 5:00 pm the day prior for all hours of SAM service. Appointment times can be negotiated to within an hour of requested time. Reasonable accommodations available.
