Current job data was collected from SBCCD incumbents, jobs were evaluated by their
content and a relative job-size matrix was created
A custom compensation survey of 19 benchmark positions was conducted
Hay Group statistically analyzed results and compared the District’s salary and structure
data to the survey market data
SBCCD salaries are current as of November, 2014

Definition of terms
P25 or 25th Percentile – 75% of the market pays above this point and 25% pays below
P50 or the Median – 50% of the market pays above this point and 50% pays below
P75 or 75th Percentile – 25% of the market pays above this point and 75% pay below
Compa-Ratio - The ratio of the actual pay rate to the midpoint of the pay range
Midpoint Progression – The increase between midpoints in the salary structure
Range Spread – Also known as Range Width, it is the distance between the minimum
and the maximum of the pay range
Range Overlap – The degree to which adjacent pay ranges overlap
