Salwan Education Trust decided to name the newly constructed Block of the School as “Sardar Hardyal Singh Block”, a tribute to the former trustee on Thursday, 7th May, 2015. The inauguration was done by his son, Shri Harpal Singh(MentorandChairmanEmeritus,FortisHealthcareLtd.),alsoHon’bleTrustee of Salwan Education Trust, in the presence of Hon’ble Trustees, family members of late Sardar Hardyal Singh, Managing Committee Members, Parents, Directors and Principals of sister institutions, Students & Staff. The cultural
programme and an interactive session with Sh. Harpal Singh and Sh. Sushil Dutt Salwan, Hon’ble Chairman SET, were the highlights of the day. The students and parents got an insight into the lives of Sardar Hardyal Singh and Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan,the persons of indomitable spirit and commitment. The ceremony was followed by plantation of saplings by Smt & Shri Harpal Singh, and other family members.

The “Investiture Ceremony” was conducted on Friday, 22nd May, 2015,
where young leaders beaming with pride were bestowed with the powers to perform
their responsibilities and duties. Chief Guest Shri S.L. Kushwaha, Project Officer, UPSIDC
decorated the students with Ties and Badges. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted
the contribution of the school in instilling leadership qualities among students. Principal,
shared the efforts and opportunities provided by the school to the students. Parents
present felt proud to see their children stay connected to the Vision of Founder Father
Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan by singing the first prayer composed in Urdu in 1938. Glory of
school was shared by the School Song.

Nostalgic Moments at “Melange” 2015Students participation in Melange 2015 on 29th and 30th October, 2015 held at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School came out to be the harbinger of good news for the students. The school attained second position in Moves -Heal the world and third position in Verbosity (Enactment on Proverbs & Idioms in action). Around 35 schools took part in the event.

With a view to promote interest and excellence in Mathematics INTeR SALWAN MATH COMPeTITION was held on 17th October 2015 at SPS Rajender Nagar. The objective of conducting the competition was to provide opportunity to young and talented students to face challenging problems in mathematics. Seven students participated in the Second round of 2nd International Geeta Gayan Competition held at Silver Bells School, Ghaziabad on 28th September, 2015. The event was held to celebrate and commemorate the birth centenary of the great saint Chinmayananda. The objective of this competition was to motivate Children to chant the Geeta and ultimately bring this philosophy of Sanskrit Shlokas to transform their lives. 20 chants from Chapter XIV of Geeta “Purushottama Yoga” were selected

Digitalised Learning• Digital Wellness Online Challenge was conducted by
Ministry of Education in collaboration with Intel from 1st– 7th July 2015 in which 114 students took online challenge and12ofthemwereawardedCertificateofMerit.
• Literary Week, recognising the importance of English Language in our lives and its immense contribution to the holistic development of students, was organized from 20th -28th April, 2015. The prime motive in organizing the week was to carve out the intellect of the students and cultivate their passion towards English language. Aworkshop on FirstAid was organised for the studentsof the classes I-V on Monday 11th May,2015. Students through Powerpoint Presentation were informed about the steps to be followed in case of Medical emergencies like getting injured in the playing field or in a bus.Theywerealso informed about what precautions they must take in the changing climatic conditions.
An awareness programme on ‘’Good Touch and Bad Touch’’
was organised for the Montessori kids on 6th May, 2015.
Children were made aware of the safety measures for self-
guarding themselves against any harassment, abuse etc.
Children were encouraged to remain alert and say ‘No’ in
case of danger or call for help. A follow-up interactive session

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day Celebration on 4th
September, 2015 the students of classes IX-XII witnessed
the interaction of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, with
school children of the country live from Manekshaw centre,
in school auditorium.
In his address the Prime Minister said a teacher is known by
the accomplishments of his students. He reiterated on the
role of teachers to consider all students as important, and
a good teacher will remember all – not just the ones who
excelled academically. The students listened attentively and
learnt many good things from his experience which they
shared in the morning assembly.

The function began with the soulful rendition of Kashmiri
song dedicated to the sacrifices made by the soldiers.

I feel myself one of the privileged students in the group of
15 who attended a discussion on the topic “Gender Equality
is the only way Forward” orgainsed by Nanhi Chhaan
FoundationatVasantValleySchool,VasantKunjon29thSep,
2015.
We felt amazed to see the 14 participants from the topmost
schools all over the country armed with the thoughts,
convictions and statements to convince the judges. We had
a great learning and got an insight to face panel discussions
with confidence.We got to know the differentways and
aspects of reducing gender inequality and noted the valuable
pearls of wisdom on our notepads.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Harpal Singh, Chairman, Nanhi
Chhaan Foundation, whilst highlighting the importance of
awareness about gender inequality said emphasized the role
of young leaders of future to get inspired and committed
to the issues and challenges the country faces so that they
can contribute and play a bigger role in the development of
society to bring social change.
It was really inspiring for all of us to attend this national level
discussion. I hope that with strong conviction and ideology
we’ll also be the part of the discussion in the years to come.
