“To Serve is to Reign” April 7—11, 2019

The mission will be presented over five consecutive evenings from Sunday, April 7 through Thursday, April 11th. The 7:00 PM Mission Talk presentation will last for approximately 45 minutes, followed by an opportunity for confessions to be heard.

At 6:00 PM (Except Wednesday, April 10) Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

~ Rosary ~ Chaplet of the Divine Mercy ~ Confessions ~ ~ Mission Talk at 7:00 PM ~

A “parish mission” is a special event in which EVERYONE is invited to take part in several days of activity and prayer, all focusing on faith enrichment. Those who attend a parish mission often experience a spiritual renewal, bringing about a deeper love for God, and a revitalization of their personal relationships. For people who are not Catholic, or who are just unclear about what it is that Catholics today really believe, the parish mission is an exciting way for them to hear a clear presentation of the Catholic faith and get real answers to their questions. Parents, please encourage your teens on the importance of attending this parish mission, even as you set an example for them by your own attendance. Additionally, it is hoped that everyone will be sure to bring along a friend or relative who might not otherwise intend to go alone. For those who are unable to attend the evening sessions the same Mission Talk will be presented: Monday (April 8th) thru Thursday (April 11th) starting after the 8:00 AM Mass. Fr. Aytona, is trying to make it so convenient for us all that we hope EVERYONE will be sure to attend one of the presentations each day!

Together please pray this mission will enrich the faith-life of all who attend, Fr. Joseph Aytona’s goal is to help us grow in holiness and seek the desire you to come to meet Christ, not only in your neighbor but in His Sacraments to fulfil your desire for more intimacy with God. Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, ‘What do you seek?’ And they said to Him, ‘Rabbi’ where are You staying?’ He said to them, “Come and see” (John 1:38-39).

“Come and See” Please save the dates and learn how “To Serve is to Reign.”

Charitable Bequests: *A charitable bequest to your parish is a tangible way to acknowledge God’s generosity to you during your lifetime. Arranging a charitable bequest is simple, just have your estate planning attorney include a provision in your will or trust that directs to your parish a specific cash gift, a gift of other personal or real property, or a specified percentage of your estate. You can further specify that your bequest be used to support the parish school or your favorite parish ministry. There may be estate tax advantages to making such a charitable bequest to your parish. For further information, please contact The Catholic Foundation at 916-733-0266 or tcfcagift.org. The Catholic Foundation provides technical support to the parish for bequests.

*Planning for death is as natural for the Christian as planning for life. As stated in 1 Peter 4:10 —“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace”. Having a will is good stewardship and remembering your parish leaves a lasting legacy. For further information, please contact The Catholic Foundation at 916-733-0266 or tcfcagift.org. The Catholic Foundation provides technical support to the parish for bequests.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Hollywood has given us an image of Moses slipping off his shoes before a burning bush. God has just called Moses by name, and so that Moses doesn't miss the meaning of this breakthrough in human history, God requires that all barriers to the experience be eliminated. If you've ever tried to maneuver barefoot across hot sand, or pick your way along a rocky beach, you know how sensitive feet can be. Within the Church, there are religious orders with a custom of going barefoot, not merely to show poverty, but to be an outward sign of a desire for connection with creation, a desire to go through life alert to what God is doing. In early days, when reconciliation was a once-in-a-lifetime possibility, penitents often went barefoot for a long period of time as a sign of their conversion. Even today, people follow an ancient practice of slipping off their shoes to walk in the proces-sion to the cross on Good Friday. It is striking that the first use of our newly-scrubbed feet from Holy Thursday night is to walk reso-lutely in the footsteps of Christ to the cross.

ST. ROSE ALTAR SOCIETY MEETING
