community? If you would like to become an Extraordinary
Minister of the Eucharist (EM), we would love to have you join
this ministry. Please consider helping to serve our family of faith
as an EM. All training is provided.

TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
From the Pastor:
St. Rose of Lima Youth Ministry
19th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament
St. Rose of Lima Parish has always been privileged to serve
children and young adults from all of the 1500 households in
the parish community.
I am asking all parents to take an interest in this year’s
Golf Tournament, scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th.
I hope golfers will sign-up early in order to “firm up” the
tournament and welcome individuals, doubles and 25
four-some's to make this event a great community
celebration of love and sacrifice for our children as well
as children everywhere.
Online Registration now Open! www.saintroseoflima.com Simply click on the golf button and register to play, to
attend the dinner, to sponsor the event or to make a
donation to our silent auction. Let’s make this year’s
tournament a big success for the benefit of our youth!
As summer draws to a close, St. Rose of Lima is looking to
add members to the Music Ministry. Being a “Stewardship
Parish,” Father Houston often speaks of Time, Talent and
Treasure. During Masses, I hear very melodious voices in
the congregation and would love to have you share your
TALENT!
Cantors: Cantors are needed to lead song at all of our weekend Masses.
You will be fully trained and will have the opportunity to
shadow a veteran cantor, if you so desire. You get to select the
Mass where you feel most comfortable sharing your talent!
Watch the bulletin for a “New Cantor” workshop which will
be coming up in a few weeks.
Band Members:
Students in Grade 6 and up are welcome to join the St. Rose
of Lima Band. We are always looking for vocalists and those
who play instruments. The band generally sings at the
10 AM Mass on Sunday and additional Masses as needed.
All communication is by email and rehearsals are scheduled
on various Saturday mornings throughout the year. Invite your
friends and class mates to share their talent!
Adult Choir:
The Adult Choir is always looking for new members. The
choir sings from Oct-May and has rehearsals on Thursday
evenings at 7pm. The highlight of the Adult Choir is the
Easter Triduum which brings such a moving experience to the
congregation.
Thank you for considering sharing your “TALENT,” with
the parish. Feel free to contact me with any questions:
508-450-1261 or email [email protected]
Rick Zinkus, Director of Music
If you have already registered your child for Religious Education for the
upcoming school year, thank you! For those of you who have not, please
take the time to fill out a form and return it to the office. We are still in
need of more than half of the expected registrations which are needed in
order to create classes! If your form has been misplaced you may find one
in the Religious Education office or online at www.saintroseoflima.com.
Teachers are needed:
Please consider sharing your faith and time! What a catechist does is
more than teaching or volunteering. It is a vocation! According to
American author and educator Parker Palmer, “it is a voice not out in
the distance calling you to become something different, but a voice deep
within calling you to become who God already created you to be.”
We are in need of teachers for the following grades:

Thinking About Becoming Catholic?
Are you interested in learning more about the Catholic faith?
Have you ever thought about taking the next steps towards
becoming Catholic? If so, the RCIA program is for you.
The RCIA program is an accessible and welcoming way to take
a look at the bigger picture about God, Jesus, the Bible, the
Christian story and the Catholic Church. Attendees meet in a
casual environment with others who are exploring the Catholic
faith to understand more about the basic message of Christ and
the mission of the Church.
The program begins in the Fall and meets weekly in the Family
Life Center. If you have questions, or would like to register,
please contact Theresa Fugardi at [email protected] or
508-393-2413.
Families
“The mystery of the Christian family can be fully
understood only in the light of the Father’s infinite
love revealed in Christ, who gave himself up for our
sake and who continues to dwell in our midst.”
~Pope Francis
Prayers to Begin a New School Year
God of wisdom and might,
we praise you for the wonder of our being,
for mind, body and spirit.
Be with our children as they begin
a new school year.
Bless them and their teachers and staff.
give them strength and grace as their bodies grow;
wisdom and knowledge to their minds
as they search for understanding;
and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen. Reception for LaVerne Bertin
Sept. 22nd, following the 10:00AM Mass
Former DRE and longtime parishioner
of 49 years, LaVerne will be leaving
Northborough in a few weeks. She is moving to be closer to
her daughter who resides in Georgia. During her time at
St. Rose of Lima, LaVerne brought many new programs and
ideas to the parish. She is also an active member of the
Women’s Club. LaVernse will be greatly missed and we wish
her well as she embarks on this new chapter in her life!
