We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son,

as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world,

and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels,

that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted,

we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,

wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love

one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of

Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our

compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms,

A R F F G Meditating the Word of God My brothers and sisters, in the second reading from the first letter of Peter, we have all heard it said, “You are a royal priesthood.” What does it mean? In order to understand the meaning of this title, it is necessary to review the meaning of each word. The first word “royal” is associated with the highest rank that is found in society. Therefore, to have the word "royal" associated with your name, it would mean that somehow, you are related to a king or a queen. The word “priesthood” is traced to the descendants of Levi. The whole tribe of Levi by the command of God was set apart for the service of the sanctuary. Their anointing would admit them to a perpetual priesthood. From this, we learn that those who belonged to the priesthood, a class that had been set apart in society, had been personally chosen by God to serve Him in a perpetual priesthood. When combining both words, “royal” and “priesthood,” we learn that those who possess that title are persons of royal blood who have been personally chosen by God to serve Him in a perpetual priest-hood that enjoys a different status in society. In the Gospel of John, we learn that Jesus commanded the Sacrament of Baptism as a condition to being admitted into the Kingdom of God. He said, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.” (Jn. 3:5) Therefore, those who belong to the royal priest-hood, they enjoy a greater status than that of a worldly king or a world-ly queen. With this understanding of the royal priesthood, it is now easier to understand the part of the Second Reading that said, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Pet. 2:9) In conclusion, to have been called as members of the royal priesthood of God is a very special and free blessing that is undeserved because of our sinful nature. This week, let us reflect on this blessing of being a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and god's own people. In thanksgiving, let us proclaim the mighty acts of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

R G Meditando la Palabra de Dios Mis hermanos y hermanas, en la segunda lectura de la primera carta de Pedro, todos hemos escuchado decir: “Ustedes son un sacerdo-cio real”. ¿Qué significa eso? Para entender el significado de este título, es necesario revisar el significado de cada palabra. La primera palabra “real” se asocia con el rango más alto que se encuentra en la sociedad. Por lo tanto, tener la palabra “real” asociada con su nombre, significa-ría que de alguna manera, usted está relacionado con un rey o una reina. (Juan 3: 5) Por lo tanto, aquellos que pertenecen al sacerdocio real, disfrutan de un estatus mayor que el de un rey mundano o una reina mundana. Con esta comprensión del sacerdocio real, ahora es más fácil entender la parte de la segunda lectu-ra que decía: “Pero ustedes son una raza elegida, un sacerdocio real, una nación santa. A MESSAGE FROM DEACON RICHARD This Sunday’s Gospel Jesus says to his disciples do not let your hearts be trouble you have faith in God have faith also in me I am the way the truth and the life. I finish reading in the acts of the apostles reminds us let the apostles we’re going through challenging time as the communi-ty were growing, and realize that they needed help, and they chose seven men filled with the spirit and wisdom, to care for the, Widows, orphans and to care for the needs of the poor their community. Today I would like to share some good news with all of you, St. Matthew the apostle has been assigned a new pastor starting July 1, 2020 his name is Father Randy Campos and I would like all of us to give him great welcome when he comes in the next few weeks you will be here in a little bit more father Randy. Secondly good news, This past March, the archdiocese asked each parish to apply for a PPP loan, which Congress had approval for small businesses. I apply for St Matthews, we were approved in April, this past Tuesday, May 4, St. Matthew parish received, $25,800, to be used for payroll and health in-surance, parish operating costs yes will cover two months bills and payroll and if we show that we use the funds yes proposed how long will be forgiven I will share a little more with you at a later time, We will still need your support, Finally I would like to share we have installed a new gate between the rectory in the front of the church and now we can secure all of the facilities here at, St Matthews. MENSAJE DEL DIACONO RICHARD El Evangelio de este domingo Jesús dice a sus discípulos que no dejen que sus corazones sean problemas tienen fe en Dios que tienen fe también en mí, yo soy la forma en que la verdad y la vida.
