Stewardship Note: How often do we put all our time and energy into building a kingdom here on earth, forgetting that life here is short? The real kingdom is in the next life. Yet, how much time and energy do we invest in working for that eternal kingdom?

In grade school, one of the nuns told our class that we should always remember that Jesus is the unseen visitor in every home, a guest at every meal and a friend in every moment. If we thought about it, she said, we would avoid sin and please God in all that we said or did. In our young minds, it explained precisely the spiritual relationship we had with the Lord. Today, the end of the Church year celebrates the Kingship of Christ and we are presented with an im-age that seems anything but royal. The throne of Jesus is the cross and His dominion extends to all crea-tion and all things, good and evil. In destroying sin, He wins for us everlasting life. No king has ever fought a battle with such enormous consequences, so great that we measure history as before and after Christ. If someone enters your home, would they know about your faith? Do you have those reminders of God’s presence among us: a crucifix, a small statue, or a religious painting? Is a Bible enthroned in your home? If indeed we call Jesus the King of the World, and the Ruler of our Hearts, where does He fit in? Give the Lord some recognition and some space in your home. He’ll be sure to make space for you in His.

The second collection this weekend is for Hurricane Florence Relief.

The second collection next weekend is for Higher Utility and Energy Costs.

SHARING OUR BLESSINGS Reflection 5: Reflection 1: Read Matthew 25: 14-30. Reflect on the rewards given to the two faithful servants. What does it mean that they will share in their master’s happiness? With God playing the role of master in this parable, what does it mean to share in the happiness of God? Reflection 2: Read Rev 21: 1-8: Reflect on the eternal rewards given to God’s faithful people at the end of time. What reward in particu-lar stands out to you as meaningful? Do you feel like you have given more freely of your time, talent, or treasure to make that reward somehow manifest in the here and now?

Week 5 Action Item This is the final action item for Sharing Our Blessings 2018. Once you have completed the Sunday reflection, consider the following: 1. In this Sunday’s reflections, you learned about the rewards of faithful stewardship, both in this life (sharing in God’s happiness now) and in the age to come (eternal happiness in God’s presence). In what ways do you express gratitude to God now for these great gifts? 2. Consider Sunday in particular, the day on which we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and obey the command to keep holy the Sabbath. How could you reinforce your gratitude to God on this day in a new way throughout the coming year? How can rest, prayer, family gath-erings, or even engaging in a creative activity or hobby be a form of thanksgiving? 3. Now think about revisiting these questions of stewardship in 12 months’ time, when you are a ready. Make a commitment to re-examine your stewardship—your gifts of time, talent, and treasure to God and His people—12 months from today, and make changes as needed to continue your trajectory of a meaningful and sacrificial commitment to the local church. Create a reminder for yourself.

On the weekend of December 9th, a Jesuit priest, Fr. Leszek Gesiak will lead us in reflections at all the Masses. Please find the time to include your preparation activities in your daily life.

GIVING THANKS AT ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL On Monday, November 19th, the students, faculty, and staff of St. Joseph School continued their annual Thanksgiving traditions. As the students began the holiday week, they joined together to give thanks for their many blessings as well as collect food for local families in need. Each class was responsible for bringing in items that would complete a Thanksgiving din-ner. Younger students, including the three pre-kindergarten classes, con-tributed canned vegetables, while older students donated stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce and potatoes. Turkeys were donated by the St. Joseph Basilica Knights of Columbus Council #12980. The food collec-tion culminated with a prayer service led by Sr. Mary Ann Papiez’s Sixth Grade students. Then, on Tuesday, November 20th, the St. Joseph School community gathered for their Annual Thanksgiving Feast, compliments of Mr. and Mrs. John Hester, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Montione, the Cieszyn-ski Family, and Monsignor Czarnecki. Prepared by the St. Joseph School

kitchen staff and served by parent volunteers, the students enjoyed delicious homemade turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, and more! This year’s Guests of Honor at the feast were several of our local veterans, as well as Mr. and Mrs. John Gogolinski, Senator Ryan Fattman and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Montione, and Prof. and Mrs. Steglitz. It was a great celebration for all!

SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL Today as we celebrate Christ the King, may we open the door of our heart so wide that we may listen to the voice of Jesus calling us to help build his king-dom here on earth. This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring God’s kingdom of love and mercy to families, providing clothing, food, and money for utility, rent, and other bills. God Bless You!

SPECIAL CEMETERY OFFER During the month of November, we offer single grave lots at a 10% discount and multiple grave lots at a 15% discount. If inter-ested, please call the rectory for details.

CHRYSTUS KRÓL Dzisiaj świętujemy dzień, który jest popularnie i tradycyjnie nazywany Świętem Chrystusa Króla. Po Mszy św. 11.00 nastąpi wystawienie Najświętszego Sakramentu i adoracja do godziny 15:00. O godz. Organizacje i organizacje parafialne proszone są o udział w Adoracji w następujących godzinach: 12:00 -13:00 Rada Parafialna i Rycerze Kolumba 13:00-13:30pm Sacred Heart Society 13:30-14:00: Holy Rosary Sodality 14:00-14:30pm St. Anne Society i St. Joseph Women's Club 14:30-15:00 Szafarze Eucharystii i dzieci Maryi

Dodatkowo, zwyczaj ten nawiązywał do najpopularniejszej modlitwy chrześcijan „Ojcze nasz”, w której proszą „chleba naszego powszedniego daj nam dzisiaj”.

Do adwentowych zwyczajów religijnych należą: Roraty, Dobre uczynki adwentowe, Wspólna modlitwa adwentowa, Wieniec adwentowy.
