Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fourth Sunday of Advent–December 24, 2017 Reflection from the Pastor: For we Catholics, Christmas isn’t only one day; rather, we celebrate an octave (eight days) of Christmas. The liturgy of the Church allows us to look at the mystery of Christ’s Incarnation from different angles and to appreciate its effects in our lives. Since many of you are blessed with some vacation time after Christmas, I invite you to join in with the daily Masses of the octave of Christmas. It’s a special way of honoring our Infant King. For we Catholics, Christmas isn’t only one day; rather, we celebrate an

Welcome to our new 2/3 Grade Teacher,

Mrs. Linda Lies Mrs. Linda Lies will be joining our faculty on

January 4th as the 2/3 homeroom teacher. She

comes to us from St. Francis of Assisi parish

in Wichita and has several years of teaching

experience in the Diocese of Wichita.

Knights of Columbus News Our next regular meeting will be on Monday,

January 8th, at 7:30 PM

Knight & Family of the Month

Denny & Jan MacLaughlin are an amazing Catholic

couple. Denny is involved in so many ministries at our

parish. They have three children; Scott, Eric and Tara.

Denny is our local Financial Secretary and has brought

some great changes to our council. Denny and Jan are

involved in many programs in the community such as:

Habitat for Humanity, Sacred Heart School lunch

program, St. Vincent de Paul Society, church cleaners,

Pastoral Council, and the Finance Council. Denny and Jan

were instrumental in installing the St. Teresa memorial to

the Right to Life in front of the church along with the

parish, Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart School.

Congratulations to Denny and Jan MacLaughlin for being

the Knight and Family of November 2017.

Clases del Bautismo en español: Las clases pre-

bautismales son obligatorios para todos los padres y

padrinos. La clase dura una hora y está en la oficina de la

parroquia (302 S B Street). Se celebra los bautismos en

español el último domingo del mes después de la misa en

español.

El 4 de enero Iniciamos el segundo

semestre.

Bienvenida Sra. Linda Lies. Nuestra nueva

maestra para 2o. y 3er. grado. La Sra. Linda Lies se unirá a nuestro personal

desde el 4 de enero como maestra de los

salones de 2o. y 3er. grados. Ella viene a

nosotros de la parroquia de San Francisco de Asís en Wichita

y tiene varios años de experiencia en enseñanza en la

Diócesis de Wichita.

“A QUIEN ESTAS SIGUIENDO”

En la primera lectura, somos testigos del llamado al Rey

David de construir un templo; un lugar sagrado para ser el

hogar del Arca del Convenio. En el Evangelio, vemos a

María ser llamada a llevar al bebé Jesús-El Nuevo

Convenio. Hoy, si toman el tiempo para verse en un

espejo, verán reflejado a un Cristiano llamado a llevar a

Jesús en su corazón y compartirlo con todo aquel con

quien se encuentre. Hay una hermosa continuidad del

Viejo Testamento al Nuevo Testamento y de la Sagrada

Escritura a ti y a mí. Este es uno de los regalos más

hermosos que podemos recibir esta Nochebuena. Hoy,

encuentren un momento para estar en silencio; humíllense

ante Dios y agradézcanle.

Meditación del Párroco: Para nosotros los católicos, la Navidad no es solo un día; más bien, celebramos una octava (ocho días) de

Navidad. La liturgia de la Iglesia nos permite mirar el misterio de la Encarnación de Cristo desde diferentes

ángulos y apreciar sus efectos en nuestras vidas. Dado que muchos de ustedes son bendecidos con un tiempo de

vacaciones después de Navidad, los invito a unirse a las Misas diarias de la octava de Navidad. Es una forma

especial de honrar a nuestro Niño Jesús. ¡Que Dios bendiga a cada uno de ustedes y sus familias mientras

celebran la Navidad!
