Patchogue Village * Republican Campaign Committed Riverhead Naval Reserve Company Seeks Personnel RIVERHEAD—Replacement Naval Reserve officers and enlisted men are Urgently needed by the Volunteer Electronic Warfare Company 8-34, Biverhead, to fill vacancies of per- sonnel ordered to active duty, accord- ing to a statement issued this week by Lieutenant Commander Kenneth D. Tomkinson , commanding officer of the group. Since a supply of experienced elec- tronic personnel is vital to the needs of our expanding fleet , commandants of ail naval districts have requested that recruiting for the electronics companies be intensified, in order to keep them at full strength. The Riverhead company 4s in need of reserve officers of .any classifica- tion for general .-. admini strative duties. Also needed is a rated boat- swain or quartermaster capable of instructing new recruits in mili- tary duties and a rated yeoman for office work. Commander Tomkinson points out that Army, Air Force and Coast Guard veterans with communications ratings are eligible to loin and will be enlisted by nim in the Naval Re- serve at equivalent ratings held upon discharge. Young men 17 up to , draft age , interested in electronics , are in- vited to join, and will become full- £edged members of the Naval *Re- serve. Defens e Welfare Chiefs to Gather At Suffolk Home State Director , Who Served With Gen. Clay in Berlin , Will Outline Program Yaphank J. Milford Kirkup, Jr., deputy director of County De- fense welfare services, has called a meeting of all town and county de- fense welfare personnel in the audi- torium of the Suffolk home, here. The meeting is scheduled for Mon-< day at 8 p. m. The state director for defense welfare services, Alden Bevier, will give a down-to-earth talk on defense welfare organization , planning and operations. Mr. Bevier was an Army colonel in World War II engaged in military government. He spent considerable time in Great Britain during the blitz . Later he served on the staff of General Lucius D. Clay, and was the officer in charge of the public wel- fare and relief program in the American sector of Germany. Mr. Bevier is now on the staff of Colonel Lawrence Wilkenson , state director of civil defense . Roland Guild, area director of the State Department of Social Welfare, will also speak briefly to the group. The Riverhead company 4s in needof reserve officers of .any classifica-tion for general .- . administrativeduties. Also needed is a rated boat-swain or quartermaster capableof instructing new recruits in mili-tary duties and a rated yeoman foroffice work.

Commander Tomkinson points outthat Army, Air Force and CoastGuard veterans with communicationsratings are eligible to loin and willbe enlisted by nim in the Naval Re-serve at equivalent ratings held upondischarge. Young men 17 up to, draftage, interested in electronics, are in-vited to join, and will become full-£edged members of the Naval *Re-serve. Yaphank — J. Milford Kirkup,Jr., deputy director of County De-fense welfare services, has called ameeting of all town and county de-fense welfare personnel in the audi-torium of the Suffolk home, here.The meeting is scheduled for Mon-<day at 8 p. m.

The state director for defensewelfare services, Alden Bevier, willgive a down-to-earth talk on defensewelfare organization, planning andoperations.

Mr. Bevier was an Army colonelin World War II engaged in militarygovernment. He spent considerabletime in Great Britain during theblitz. Later he served on the staff ofGeneral Lucius D. Clay, and was theofficer in charge of the public wel-fare and relief program in theAmerican sector of Germany. Mr.Bevier is now on the staff of ColonelLawrence Wilkenson, state directorof civil defense.

Roland Guild, area director of theState Department of Social Welfare,will also speak briefly to the group.
