Forged by our histories, united by our future, embracing the Spirit as one body in Christ, we are a community who prayerfully serve each other and all God’s people through all our ministries both formal and informal.
We seek to support each other’s journey to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Dear Santa,
I haven’t written to you in a long time. There isn’t really anything I want for myself. If there is one thing I would ask
from you it is for our young people and children. With everything that is happening in the world they have so many things
to worry about.
So many people feel a sense of dread for the future. There are many reasons for that feeling of dread. Our politi-
cians are acting like civility doesn’t matter. Wars and rumors of war are a constant concern. Terror, hatred and a lack of
trust seem to dominate the news. Dire predictions of our planets weather and climate change are daily news events.
We seldom hear of the many good things our world has to offer and the many people who work for the good of hu-
manity. What I ask of you is something you have always excelled in. Could you include with every gift you deliver a
sense of hope? Not everyday hope, but a hope that allows people to feel that God still loves them. That God walks with
us and that the birth of his son, which we celebrate next week, was and is a sign of humanity that we can overcome our
problems if we only love as he loves us.
I know it’s a tall order. The world likes to drown out the joy of Christmas and replace it with a consumeristic din.
Dear Saint Nicholas, you gave so freely to help those in need and spread the hope which can only be found in Christ.
Bring that sense of hope back to the world this year. As we gather in prayer or with our families for festivities let hope and
love be the gifts we find under our trees and in our hearts. In that hope in love may we all encounter Christ, the child, the
savior, God’s son, our redeemer and our peace.
Thank you,
Brian

The Giving Tree at St. Ann’s
If you take a tag requesting a gift card… Please do not leave cards under the tree, put the gift cards in the collection basket or drop them off at the rectory
Thank you in advance for your continued generosity to help brighten Christmas for the needy in our community. Questions, call Karen at 476-3355 or email [email protected]
Respect Life
Christmas is not about the birth of a child who became a great
man. It is about a God who created the human family, and then
decided to become a member of that family, thereby joining all of
us to Himself. He joins to His Divinity all who share human nature:
the weak and strong, the exaltation of the human person. That’s
why our “grown up Christmas list” can say “no more lives torn
apart” whether by abortion or anything else. Christmas lists
spring from Christmas hope, and Christmas is all about the victory
of life!

How is your spiritual preparation for Christmas go-
ing?
When he was Pope, Benedict XVI encouraged us not to
be dazzled by the shopping lights of the season, but to
be focused on the coming of Jesus Christ, “the true light
of the world.”
Honor Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament this Advent
season at a Holy Hour at St. Charles Church, Tuesday
afternoon, December 20th from 4-5pm.
Praying the Rosary, silent meditation and Benediction of
the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Annual World Marriage Day will be celebrated on February 12,
2017 at 2:30pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception,
Syracuse. The Most Reverend Robert J. Cunningham will cele-
brate Mass and witness a Renewal of Commitment to Holy Mar-
riage by all couples in attendance. He will specially honor those
couples celebrating their 25th, 50th, and those celebrating an
anniversary beyond their 50th year.
Please contact the parish office to register.
Finals week for college students is one of the most stressful few days away from home. The fact that it comes at Christmastime is even worse! YIM (Youth in Ministry) again sent out their col-lege care packages better known as “Cookies 4 College”. Thanks to the many bakers and the adults and YIM members who spent their Saturday morning packing, writing Christmas cards, filling up shipping boxes with cookies trays, hot chocolate, candy canes, and all sorts of goodies – over thirty-five boxes were mailed out with love. The boxes arrived on Monday morning to all the New York students and our St.Charles-St.Ann YM Facebook page lit up with photos and thank-you’s. It’s one of our favorite holiday events and we had plenty of cookies to go around and our helpers even got to sample a few. My favorite comment is this: “I better get one of these boxes
when I’m at college!”. And thanks to the support of Fr. Brian, they will!
Thank you to all those who donate their time with the Altar Care at St. Ann’s. We are ever so grateful. Wishing you and your loved ones a
Merry Christmas and many Bless-
ings for the New Year.

INVITING ALTAR SERVERS TO SKY ZONE FUN!!
Father Brian is once again inviting all of our altar servers to Sky Zone on Erie Blvd., during Christmas vacation. It is scheduled for Wednesday, December 28. The arrival time is 11:00 am; jumping fun is from 11:30 until 12:30, followed by lunch-pizza and soda. Pick up time is at 1:00 pm. You must sign up no later than December 18
in the sacristy in either church or call the rectory by Dec. 22.
When you sign up, you must include your date of birth. I have to bring those sign up sheets to Sky Zone a few days before the event. Also, the waivers this sheet this year, unlike last year, can only be done on-line. So two things must be completed in order to at-
tend: 1. sign up and include your date of birth.
2. complete the waiver sheet on line for Sky Zone. Hope you are able to attend! If you have questions, please contact me or Katie
Boyea. ([email protected]) ([email protected])
Thanks, and God bless, Dc. Tony
