Leading LadiesThe following are the weekly lessons used in the public school setting. The goal is to engage young girls in the seventh grade who were pointed out as the “bullies” and those who were designated as the “passive leaders.”

Page 11: Running an Activity Room

The Leading Ladies curriculum explores:

the brokenness in individuals, family units, schools, and communities.

adversity and difficulty as a means of strength and endurance.

the destructive and constructive ways to use your personal power.

using language to build people up instead of tearing them down.

Symbols for each lesson Urban Hope Charm: You can use broken things

(friendships, family, school, neighborhood issues) and make something productive and/or beautiful.

Pearl Project: Everyone faces adversities or difficulties. How will we use these?

Star Bookmark: You have power! You can use it constructive and destructive ways? Think specifically about the power of the “mouth.”

Words Cabochon: You use your words in many ways. How can you use your words to build people up and encourage them?
