The Palmyre ball gown is one of the most iconic designs from the 1950s. The embroidery was worked with 32 different sequins and beads and three varied silver

threads. The gown was worn by Toronto socialite Dorothy Boylen

and chosen for her picture on the Toronto Telegram’s Best Dressed List. She was in good company as Oona O’Neill, the fourth wife of Charlie Chaplin, and Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, also had this design in their wardrobes.
