Special Thanks

The Fourth Wall would not have been possible without the generous contributions of the following:

Our wonderful donors, season sponsors, and purchasers of program ads. Please visit those businesses whose ads you see here

and let them know you appreciate their support of the arts!

YOU, for being in our audience - with an extra special thanks to our season ticket holders!

Rover's Mission

Searching for treasures, new and rediscovered, for theatre "off the beaten path."

Rover Dramawerks produces lost or forgotten works of well-known authors,

revives excellent scripts that have suffered from lack of exposure, and discovers unknown gems of the stage.

The Fourth Wall was originally produced by Primary Stages, New York, NY in 2002.

Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

Please turn off all pagers, cellular phones, wristwatch alarms, tablets, and other noise and light making devices.

There will be no smoking or vaping in the theatre.

Thank you!

Get Involved!

Welcome to our new theatre and the first show of our 15th Anniversary Season! Rover Dramawerks is pleased to present seven exciting mainstage shows and two One Day Only 10-minute play festivals in our new home again this coming season, as well as unique Adventure Nights programming on Fridays and Saturdays between our mainstage shows. Join us as we grow, won’t you? Volunteers make all of this possible. We are a business. We are an art. We are a community. If you have ever been a part of any of these things, you have the skills we’re looking for! We’re looking for people to join our dynamic Board of Directors, help us write grants, network on Rover’s behalf with local businesses, build sets, join our new guild - if you’ve got a talent, we can probably make use of it! Just give your contact information to the box office or a roving board member and we’ll take it from there. You can also send an email to Rover’s Artistic Director Carol M. Rice at [email protected] for more information or with kudos, questions, or concerns about anything Rover related, too! If you don’t have a lot of extra time, you can still help us out. Use GoodSearch.com when surfing the web (instead of Google), and Rover gets a penny per search. Use GoodShop when you shop online, and we get a percentage of your purchase! There’s even a nifty toolbar you can download that will tell you when you’re visiting a shopping site that will benefit Rover! With COUPONS! Also a part of the GoodSearch family: GoodDining, which benefits Rover when you eat out at participating restaurants. Check it out today and register, and you can support us without even thinking about it! You can also link your Tom Thumb Reward Card to Rover. Just fill out an application at the store including our account number, 10965, and we’ll get a percentage every time you buy groceries! Every little bit ads up! Another easy way to support Rover is to visit the businesses whose ads appear in our program, and let them know you’re there because you saw them here! You can even buy an ad for YOUR business! Rates start at just $50 for a quarter page, and we have season ads available, too. Perfect timing since our new season is about to start! Be a show sponsor! You can sponsor the whole run, be a co-sponsor, or even just sponsor an opening night, closing night, or any special night during the run of any show in our season! And of course you can donate to Rover, and we don’t just need money (although that’s the BEST way to help) - you can also donate goods and services! More than anything though, we love it when you’re here in our audience. We need and appreciate your support and hope to see you again SOON. Be sure to make your tax-deductible donations and buy your season tickets!

A Bit About the Play

Peggy's living room faces a blank "fourth wall." It looks like a stage. It feels like a stage.

And all her guests and family are merely players - and just can't help themselves.

The Fourth Wall will be performed without an intermission.

Who's Who Will Acker is wetting his feet in the DFW theatre world by making his debut with Rover Dramawerks. He's a recent graduate of Oral Roberts University and received his BA in Theatre Arts. Some of his favorite roles he played there are Benedick (Much Ado About Nothing), Will Parker (Oklahoma!), Cornelius Hackl (Hello Dolly) Vinnie DeRuzzio (Lucky Stiff), and Hal Carter (Picnic). He was also an active actor with The Playhouse Tulsa. Credits there include Andrew Rally (I Hate Hamlet), Trinculo (The Tempest), Snoopy (A Charlie Brown Christmas), and Hot Blades Harry (Urinetown). Since moving to Dallas in August, he's been on a whirlwind adventure, and remains forever grateful of the love and support he receives from his family and friends, and is honored to dedicate this show to them. Andi Allen may be making her Rover directing debut but she is a longtime award-winning director, actor and sound designer in Dallas theater. Her directing credits include the hit comedies Re-Designing Women, Die, Mommie, Die! and The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode for Uptown Players. She has also directed such productions as Brighton Beach Memoirs and Crimes of the Heart for Mainstage Irving-Las Colinas and the recent regional premiere of Relatively Speaking at the Pocket Sandwich Theater. Ms. Allen stays busy as an actor, most recently appearing in God of Carnage for Our Productions Theatre Co. and Garland Summer Musical’s Thoroughly Modern Millie. Her next projects include a revival of her original hit comedy Santa Claus vs. the Martians here at Rover in December and the world premiere of her comedy Supermodel Super Spies: Mortal Kompact for Camp Death Productions in February 2015 at the historic Margo Jones Theatre at Fair Park. Cynthia Beene is excited to return to Rover, having recently portrayed Miss Evans in Who Was That Lady I Saw You With? She graduated from Texas A&M University Commerce in May with her BS in Theatre Education, where she played Louise Melton in Hollywood Arms. She received her AA from North Lake College where she played Hester Swayne in By the Bog of Cats. Her other credits include Catherine in Proof and Titania/Hippolyta in A Midsummer Nights Dream. She is currently a theatre teacher at Garner Fine Arts Academy. Sue Goodner: “Thanks, Rover, for having me back and thanks to Andi and this marvelous cast for making this trip a memorable one!” National: The Weaving (Tante Yans), national premier at the Lincoln Center, NYC. Regional: MCT – Steel Magnolias (Clairee Belcher), The Cemetery Club (Mildred), Rex’s Exes (Cee Cee Windham), The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens (Mrs. Vickers); Plano Repertory Theatre – Brighten Beach Memoirs (Kate); McKinney Repertory Theatre – Arsenic and Old Lace (Martha Brewster), Plaza Suite (Norma Hubley), Play It Again Sam (Nancy), The Snowflake Theory (Marge Klein), Black Comedy (Miss Furnival), The Vagina Monologues (The Flood and ensemble), Five Tellers Dancing in the Rain (Delores); Rover Dramawerks – Murder at the Orient Burlesque (Tallulah Lazzare), regional premier; Tulsa Oklahoma – The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Grace Bradford), Charley’s Aunt (Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez), Blithe Spirit (Ruth), The Diviners (Norma Henshaw). Sue sends out big hugs to Steve for his patience and to her amazing group of supporters . . . take some deep breaths, think nice thoughts and don’t ever take anything for granted! Stan Kelly is pleased to be making his third outing with Rover. He was The Major in Bloody Murder and directed Same Time, Next Year. Locally, he’s also performed with McKinney Rep in Hotel de Foels (Mr. Foels) and as Frank in Frisco Community Theatre’s Over the River and Through the Woods. He’ll be directing Anton in Show Business for Mesquite Community Theatre next May. Favorite roles elsewhere include: I Hate Hamlet (Barrymore), The Lion in Winter (Henry), My Fair Lady (Higgins), Camelot (Arthur) To Kill a Mockingbird (Atticus), and Jake’s Women (Jake).

We’d like to give one more HUGE thanks to our recent One Day Only 23 sponsors:

Please patronize these businesses and thank them for their support of Rover

Dramawerks!

Directorial credits include: Beau Jest, The Foreigner, Angel Street, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, On Golden Pond, Born Yesterday, …Forum, Once Upon a Mattress, The Glass Menagerie, Steel Magnolias, Noises Off, The Diary of Anne Frank, Harvey, Cabaret, and Oliver! Stan has been a member of SAG since 1991 and has had recurring roles in Commander in Chief, Line of Fire, Legacy, and has guest starred on Homicide…Life on the Street and Matlock (3 times). Principal film roles include Mickey, Toy Soldiers, Sommersby, Stonebrook, When We Were Colored, The Contender, and a bunch of MOWs. ILYMC. Darcy Koss was spotted by director Jason Rice several years ago while she was working at the Habitat ReStore. He was immediately taken by her innate organizational talent and asked her to become involved with Rover behind the scenes. She has lost count how many times she has worked with with Rover previously (most recently as stage manager for Bloody Murder, Same Time, Next Year, and WRENS), but she loves it! “Thank you for this opportunity and for continuing to make it fun!” Jack Piland returns for his fifth production with Rover Dramawerks, as he previously designed the lights for Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily, Same Time, Next Year and These Two Couples Went to Italy... and appeared onstage as David Williams in Who Was That Lady I Saw You With? He also recently did the lighting design for the remount of Silver Screen Slayer at the Pocket Sandwich Theatre. He thanks the powers that be for giving him the ability to once more do this thing called theatre. Janis Roscoe has made a habit, no pun intended, of portraying nuns. Julia is not a nun! Some favorite roles include La Poncia in Bernarda Alba, Prioress in Edith Stein, Kate Keller in All My Sons, Ida in Cemetery Club, Sophie in Social Security, Drood in Mystery of Edwin Drood and Reverend Mother in Nunsense and Nuncrackers. Janis has performed in New York for Ligourian Players, regionally for WaterTower Theatre, Lyric Theatre of Wichita, Oklahoma Lyric, Circle Theatre, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Plano Repertory Theatre, Garland Civic Theatre and Honolulu Theatre For Youth. In addition to live theater, Janis has worked in several short films and commercials. Currently, Janis teaches Pilates out of Pilates for Life in Allen and subs in for lower grade ballet at Hathaway Academy of Ballet. It’s great to be back on the boards in Plano. FHS Dave Tenney is pleased to be working with Rover again, having previously designed lights for Claptrap and sets for Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily, Private Lives and Morphic Resonance. Dave recently folded his own small scenic design and construction company into Lighting-Guy Enterprises (the company formerly known as Samarco) and is currently the rental/sales/scenic department manager. Over the last several years, first with his own company, and now with LGE, Dave has designed lights and designed and/or constructed sets for hundreds of plays, films, television shows, and special events throughout the Metroplex. Dave also works as a freelance television engineer for Time Warner Cable Sportschannel, ESPN, ABC Sports, and others. In his off hours, Dave enjoys creating original works of art, reading good books, cooking, and hopes one day to finish getting his private pilot’s license. Danielle Vance is happy to be back at Rover, having previously designed the props for Same Time, Next Year earlier this season. She has also done props for Lend Me a Tenor (Pocket Sandwich Theatre), stage managed Ebenezer Scrooge (Pocket Sandwich Theatre), and assistant stage managed Pageant (Uptown Players). She would like to thank the wonderful cast and crew for making this experience so much fun. Also to her family for all of their support, and you the patrons for coming to see our fabulous show!
