Included in that statement was the idea that the Two Marys was a great way to boost our membership numbers by inviting friends or family who may be potential members to witness what a good time we have socially and the fact we are not a secret society but like minded individuals who would like to make the world a better place. So lets go to work and sell those tickets. Previous Meeting 22 March

On 22 March, Kevin Tumes introduced our speaker for the morning, Jeremy Scott from New Zealand who is best described as an extraordinary adventurer. Jeremy was born with a hole in his heart which was detected very early in his life. A very prominent NZ heart specialist performed surgery on Jeremy when he was very young which saved his life and has enabled him to lead a normal life. Jeremy moved from Auckland to London at age 28 and he lived and worked there for 10 years. In November 2004 after much thought and careful planning, Jeremy set off from London on an epic cycling journey across the world covering some 52000km spread over 2½ years. Throughout the whole journey he took stages country by country, across Europe, through Turkey, Iran, Cen-tral Asia, into China and into Korea and Japan. He con-tinued through Vietnam, SE Asia, Bali and then to Darwin. He cycled from there to Cairns, Melbourne and then from Christchurch to finish in Auckland. Along the way, Jeremy raised $18500 for the Austra-lian, New Zealand and British Heart Foundations. 10% of the proceeds from the sale of his book “The Long Road from a Broken Heart” is directed towards those Foundations.
