Children from Student

Voice were asked to try

a new item on next

week’s menu. We

replaced the rather

unpopular tuna egg

fried rice with kedgeree.

Our chefs prepared a

sample on Wednesday

and, even though I

loved it, I thought it

would only be right for

the Student Voice to

voice their opinions and

taste a bowlful. They

thought it was delicious,

but had the brainwave

of inviting other, more

discerning, children to

give it a try.

The results were all

positive with the lowest

score being 7 out of 10!

Let’s hope the rest of the

school love it too when it

goes on the menu for

the first time next

Wednesday.

Yesterday it was Reception Class’ turn to share what they have

been doing in class to the school and their parents. It was lovely

and really showed how confident they have become. We’re so

proud of all of them. Here’s the video for you to enjoy. Well done

Reception Class!

We have been really

busy preparing for their

class assembly,

however, we still

managed to find the

time to celebrate St

Patrick’s Day MORE

What a fun week it’s

been. The children

performed brilliantly for

the assembly on

Wednesday, all the

practice paid

off…MORE

We have been learning

about lots of new things

this week! We are

becoming more

confident with adding

and subtracting 10s and

100s. MORE

We have been reading

‘The Iron Man’ by Ted

Hughes. We read about

the arrival of the Space

Bat Angel Dragon.

We concluded our

science

‘eggsperiment’ this

Thank you to Mette, Michelle, Kathryn and Lora

for running the Mother’s Day Secret Shop last

Friday. We have seen many happy Mummies

whose children chose suitably lovely gifts for

them. We hope you Mummies had a lovely day

last Sunday and were spoilt rotten. MORE

Student Voice chose to interview Charlie this

week. Charlie is our super Teaching Assistant in

Reception Class and he is a gem! He comes by

scooter to school every day and is always kind

and lovely to the children and staff. Here, they

put the same questions to him; here are his

responses…

They asked:

1) What is your favourite part of the job?

Working with the Reception children

watching them learn and grow.

2) What is your hobby?

Swimming and being active.

3) What is your favourite song and why?

David Guetta ft Emeli Sandé - What I Did For

Love, because it reminds me of summer.

4) What is your fondest memory of RW so

far?

The Christmas Show.

5) What was the funniest thing that has

happened to you?

Falling off my scooter was pretty

embarrassing!

Don’t forget that tomorrow we open the school

doors for family fun and wild animals (and I don’t

mean the children!!). From 2pm to 5pm it’s Family

Fun Day! We’d be grateful if you are able to

being some homemade baked goods to keep

the party swinging. Look forward to seeing you.

there!

This week I wanted to really focus on

children showing grit and determination

to push out of their comfort zone and

aim high to show persistence and

strength in doing something new or

difficult. Children up to Year 1 did a great

job at this, but unfortunately we thought

that the Year 2, 3, 4 children could have

pushed harder, so we’re rolling over this

focus to next week.

Our Artists of the Week went to Elliot in

Reception Class for his beautiful painting

of a baby and big spider, and Eleanor for

her wonderful patchwork Elmer.

The Media Star of the Week went to Miia

in Year 2. Paul was impressed with her

behaviour, effort and enthusiasm for the

subject – and some great lip-syncing for

their upcoming music video!

Nursery

Elliot G for great enthusiasm during phonics

sessions and being a great listener.

Irah for becoming more independent with

practical tasks.

PRIZE – Lola

Reception

Kostya for settling into his new class so well; very

admirable how, after three days at school, he

performed brilliantly in the class assembly.

PRIZE – Carl

Year 1

Sofia for being so kind to her peers and adults alike

and trying new things.
