The Year AheadWelcome to Room Ones exciting journey through 2013. This is my
fourth year teaching at Kuranui School and I am looking forward to
forming positive learning partnerships with new and returning children
and their families. The early years at school are an exhilarating time
full of firsts for all concerned. Im passionate about making this
experience positive and productive, growing independent enthusiastic
learners.
The purpose of our class newsletter is to keep you informed about our
learning programmes, expectations, important dates and to celebrate
successes or special events.
During Term One all children need to bring:
- Togs and a towel
- Sunhat with a wide brim.
In Room One we recognise that everyone has special talents and we would
love for you to share yours with us. This might be helping with reading,
swimming or art just let us know how youd like to be involved.

Our overarching theme this year is How things change.
Term Ones integrated topic is based on the Rocky Shore and is entitled
Life between the Tides. We have already begun to discuss the types of
things we might find in and around rock pools. If you have pictures of or
items such as shells that could be shared with the class please send them
along.
On Thursday 21 February the whole school will be spending a full day at
Mount Maunganui undertaking an in depth rocky shore study and
culminating with a fish and chip dinner. We would love you to bring a
hat, sun block and join us.
Kind regards and have a
