President Fuad Masum of Iraq in response to the congratulation message for his elec-tion as president, of-fered by Chairman of Institute of Interna-tional Relations and Economic Coopera-tion-Dr. Anton Car-agea.

On 29 September 2014, has taken place the protocol and

taking office meeting between Prof. Dr. Anton Caragea,

expressed his decision to meet, from the first moment, the

Ambassador of State of Palestine in sign of appreciation for the long and common history be-

tween Romania and Palestine and emphasized the fact that Romania was the first non-Arab

country to recognize Palestine Liberation Organization, as the legitimate representative of Pal-

estinian people and in 1988 to recognize the State of Palestine.

H.E. Ambassador Fuad Kokaly presented the latest achievements in bilateral relations and

hopes for building new bridges of cooperation between Romania and Palestine.

The main issue tabled during the dialogue was related to: developing educational and univer-

sity cooperation between the two countries, accepting more Palestinian students in Romanian

higher education system on the bases of independent financial contribution.

Other issues highlighted where: opening in Romania a Palestinian financial institution in order

to support the developing of bilateral economic relation, supporting tourism development and

fostering the positive image of Palestinian realities in Romanian mass-media.

The parties had appreciated that between Romanian and Palestine there are large areas of

common interests, designed to forge a good understanding between the two nations.

The open and fruitful dialogue had continued on concrete aspects and analyses of economic,

political and cultural bilateral relations and on ways of fostering this cooperation on to the

    future.

We highlight the fact that: is the first ever message of election validity recognition, offered for a

country in the Middle East region and the first such high level message after a two decades

hiatus in the Romania-Iraq bilateral relationship.

We must also emphasize that the Romanian message of support and recognition was the sec-

ond received in Baghdad, after the United States message, and ambassador Omer Berzinji was

congratulated for obtaining a rapid response from the Romanian side.

Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had underlined this recognition of Iraqi elections as a symbol, not

just of the rapprochement between the two countries, but also a clear recognition of the ef-

forts of H. E. Ambassador Omer Berzinji that was not solely elected as BEST AMBASSADOR FOR

expressed his congratulation at the end of his mission in Romanian for the high and re-

sponsibility post that is waiting for him in Iraq as a leader in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We must note that always the ambassadors selected as BEST AMBASSADORS TO ROMA-

NIA where entrusted higher honours and responsibilities in their home country, a factor

that is self explanatory for the importance of being recognized by their peers in their future

careers, concluded Prof. Dr. Anton Caragea.

outstanding activity he will receive the Parliament medal, an honour that was last offered

ship between his country and Romania, a factor that must be recognized and appreciated,
