WELCOMEAnimating Spaces Gladstone FrolicCommunity Coordinator Belynda (Bindi) Waugh

In collaboration with more than 50 local artists, businesses and industry, the event will highlight the enormous depth of creative talent in the Gladstone Region, providing a transformative and memorable occasion for audiences.

Follow the story of Frolic, a daughter of industry created by local artist Jenny Fournier, as she ventures across the region exploring the vast diversity of the region’s landscape, people and environment. You may have spotted her nuts-and-bolts form at various locations already, but take the time to really get to know this place in which we live as you join in

the Frolic game, picking up pieces of the Frolic puzzle, for a chance to win her heart as well as other cool prizes, such as Aquatic Centre single passes. One lucky Frolic game winner will receive a 2014/2015 Summer Pass to the Gladstone Aquatic Centre.

Culminating in the FREE community arts event at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre precinct, where you’ll discover just how strong the arts beat in the heart of the community. Animating Spaces Gladstone Frolic is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to engage with the arts and cultivate new experiences.

Sit back and relax under the stars to enjoy a series of innovative artist projections at the Squash Centre, from 7pm.

Be dazzled by lighting and effects by Total Party Fx’s superhero Ben Dyer and experience cutting-edge technology when internationally acclaimed Brisbane-based artist, straight from the Sydney Vivid Festival, Propoganda Mill’s Propoganda Mill’s Daniel Thomas, delivers the latest in interactive light displays from realistic to stylized, transforming the evening through game and sculpture.

By THE POOLProject Coordinator Kristel Kelly

The transformation of the grassy knoll at the Aquatic Centre includes a dynamic public art mosaic created by Janie Petersen in collaboration with community groups. Funky gabion seating surrounds the artwork, creating a dramatic stage for poets, musicians and theatrics.

Join Janie Petersen to contribute to an ephemeral chalk mandala, meet Frolic and her creator, Jenny Fournier while you create a friend for Frolic from recycled materials. Join Felicia Lloyd for a Sungram workshop, creating art with photographic paper. Bookings required, on the day.
