RocMusic students hosted the viola trio, Voilà, on Wednesday, January 2nd. Members of the trio, Alexander Peña, Samantha Rodriguez, and Ben Magruder shared tips about non-verbal communication in ensemble playing with RocMusic string students followed by a concert for all 40 RocMusic students. At the end of the concert, Voilà members answered students’ questions about the music they played and their journey as musicians. Alex Chang RocMusic is pleased to welcome Mr. Alex Chang to our teaching staff. A native of Stockton, CA, Mr. Chang is a Master’s Degree student at the Eastman School of Music. Mr. Chang will assist Ms. Hanan in teaching RocMusic strings. Holidays Concert in December.

Our First RocMusic Star is Jeter Castro Jeter Castro is our first RocMusic
Star and was awarded his RocMusic
wristband on January 23rd.
RocMusic students work on self-paced
worksheets during snack time. These
worksheets help the students learn
to read and write music. Each time
a student receives an “excellent” on
a worksheet, a star is placed by the
students’ name on our RocMusic
Star Chart.
Students are also required to
perform 3 singing or playing solos
and 3 music reading solos during
each RocMusic Star cycle. Jeter
completed 10 worksheets and all
his solos in record time.
