RNA TRANSCRIPTION

David Herrera CorreaMedical Student

INTRODUCTIONRNA transcription is the way, a RNA strand is synthetised from a DNA strand

RNA polymerase II and III are the main enzymes in

the process

Cell aging slowed by putting brakes on noisy transciption

Chemical modification on chromatin, affects the transcription of RNA and as well, its traduction into

proteins.

Cell aging slowed by putting brakes on noisy transciption

Aging is measured by the number of times a mother cell divides to form daughters before it stops

A type of abnormal transcription dramatically

increases in aged cells

Cell aging slowed by putting brakes on noisy transciption

Reduction of this abnormal transcription can lead into the increase of lifespan about 30%

This kind of studies are incredibly important at the moment, because we can

not only increase our lifespan but also taking new steps into genetic therapy, stoping the division cicle and so,

developing new treatments for terminal diseases.

DEGENERATION OF THE WHITE MATTER IN THE BRAIN.

Caused by imperfection in the growing or formation of the mielin.

POLR1C gen mutation as a new way of developing

H4 leukodystrophy.

Problem in the assembly and cellular localization of RNA

polymerase III

Glimmer of hope for patients with leukodystrophies

"The cells' lack of ability to produce RNA polymerase III compromises the genetic program controlled by this

enzyme, thereby inducing a particularly harmful effect in specialized nerve cells."

Like the autors said, this research serve as a way of knowing how is the right way to treat therapeuticaly a patient with this leukodystrophy, to make new diagnosis and as well to ‘‘light on the molecular mechanism’’ of this one.

Medical Utility

Medical Utility

Both of the researches explain that, if an error ocurs in the RNA transcription, being from the

enzymes or the process itself

Medical Utility

Special treatment for patients with POLR1C

mutation.

Desing of new drugs and diagnosis with genes mutations

Medical Utility

Gene Therapy??

Correction of POLR1C mutation and abnormals chemical reactions

of chromatin.
