RISK MANAGEMENTRisk management is the art of estimating the subsistence of threats, determining their con-sequences, and applying modifying factors in a cost-effective approach to keep adverse af-ter-effects within given bounds.

The ability to prevent catastrophes to further develop by having sufficient back up plans rea-dy to implement will gain suppliers a competi-tive advantage and be welcomed by customers and governments.

Crisis Management in Tourism is vital in a rapid-ly changing world, where minutes, hours and days count increasingly. Based on the:.

• Recent New Zealand Earthquake

• Icelandic Ash Cloud

• Terror at Moscow Airport

• Overthrowing of North Arabic Regimes

• Strikes of Air Controllers

It is impossible to foresee all possible disrupti-ons in certain, yet it is unwise to ignore the fact that they can - and will - occur repeatedly and perhaps with an even shorter notice and with an increased effect than ever before seen.
