The wild turkey is one of the world’s fastest birds flying short distances at

speeds up to 55 mph and running up to 30 mph.

The biggest turkey known to man weighed in at 86 lbs.

It’s estimated that turkeys have 3,500 feathers at maturity.

Ben Franklin, who proposed the turkey as the official U.S. bird, was

dismayed when the bald eagle was chosen.
