What is Annual Conference?
Each year—traditionally in June for the South Georgia
Conference—all clergy members and an equal number of
lay members selected from the local churches attend
their conference’s Annual Conference session and meet
together to worship, fellowship, and conduct the business
of the conference, which may last 3-5 days. During these
sessions, members of the conference hear reports of past and ongoing work; adopt
future goals, programs and budgets; ordain clergy members as deacons and elders;
and elect delegates to Jurisdictional and General Conferences (every 4 years). The
bishop presides over these meetings.
United Methodists from across South Georgia will converge in Tifton June 3 through
June 6 for the 2015 Annual Conference Session. Glenn Martin & John Finn are the
clergy & laity representatives from RHUMC.
With a theme of “We’re Better Together” from Matthew 18:20 which says, “For
where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them,” this year’s Annual
Conference session will focus on the timeless value of fellowship.
The main business item will be electing delegates to the 2016 General and
Jurisdictional Conferences. Handheld electronic voting devices will be used to aid in
the elections process.
As in years past, the highlight of the Annual Conference session will be the coming
together of churches, clergy, and laity from across the South Georgia Conference.
Large and small, rural and urban, all will come together to celebrate what God is
doing in South Georgia and their oneness in Christ.

United Methodist Men June Meeting
June 9, 2015, 7:00pm in the Gill Our topic this month is the
Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary given by Cathy Sakas, a professional interpretive
naturalist. She wrote and co-produced two Emmy winning nature series for GPTV. Please bring vegetables, side dishes,
and desserts. With our membership’s recent approval to proceed with
a new building campaign, we are entering an exciting time in the life of RHUMC. Even at this early stage, we are starting to see financial contributions being made in support of this new campaign. As such, we want to make sure we properly record any donations you make in accordance with your intent. Particularly, we don’t want to record donations intended for our new building campaign as funds designated for the repair and maintenance of our existing facilities. Similarly, we don’t want to use funds intended for the upkeep of our existing buildings to go toward our new building project. Therefore, when making a contribution toward our new building fund, please write in the memo line of your check a description such as “New Building Fund”, “Building Expansion Fund” or “2015 Capital Building Fund”. For contributions toward our existing facility upkeep, a description such as “Existing Building Repairs and Maintenance” or “Existing Building Maintenance and Improvements” on your check will help us record your donation properly. It is very important that your designated gifts are used in the manner in which you intended them to be used, and we pledge to do our best to achieve this. Thank you for your help by clearly denoting your intent on your check. And most importantly of all, thank you for your continued support of our church. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cindy Hardy in our office or me at (912)220-1869.

Adult Mission Team Special Offering
June 7th
Our church is supporting an Adult Mission Team on a trip this summer to Tapachula, Mexico, through Mission on the Move. We will be providing relief for the staff that work year round in an orphanage there. There are children of all ages in the orphanage, whose parents are in prison. Mission on the Move provides a safe and loving environment for them to live while their parents are incarcerated. Our team will spend 7 days taking care of the children and doing some repairs and painting the orphanage. Your donations will help to cover paint supplies for repair work, new shoes for the children, and money for the house moms to enjoy some time off. Please consider donating to this team to help them make a difference to these children. We will be taking up this special offering on June 7th during all 3 services. However, if you are unavailable then, the church office can take your donations anytime prior.
Please keep the following team members in prayer as they prepare: Julie, Chap, Blaine, and Braden Chapman Bob and Fran Thomas Janine Blakeborough
Thank you so much for your support!
VBS June 22-26, 9-12:30pm We have 300 signed up!
Registration is now closed.
New Study
On Sunday, June 7th, the FUSE Sunday school class will begin a new study on John Ortberg’s book, “All the Places to Go...How Will I know?” You are welcome to join us during the Sunday school hour, 10:00am, in the Guest Room.
"Very rarely in the Bible does God command someone to “stay.” He opens a door, and then he invites us to walk through it—into the unknown. Open doors are the great adventure of life. How we choose to respond will ultimately determine the lives we will lead and the people we will become. So go ahead—walk through that door. You just might do something that lasts for eternity."
Decorating Props Needed for VBS
Our decorating theme this year is Mount Everest, so we are creating lots of snow, ice, and rocks, with plenty of mountainous backgrounds. Base camp features prominently in our skits and theme, so we are looking for lots of camping/hiking/rock-climbing types of props. If you have items that we can borrow, we are specifically looking for: hiking boots, Backpacks, camp stoves, wooden crates, appropriate heavy-duty outerwear such as parkas, goggles, ski bibs, ski hats/masks, & gloves. We only need a limited amount of these prop items, so please contact Jeanne ([email protected] OR 478-320-4639) before bringing any items to the church. Please let us know what we may borrow ASAP, in order that we can plan appropriately. Thank you!
New Sunday School Video Series Transformations has been learning about Soul Shifts, a study about how God transforms a life into a deeper walk with God, and with all ladies, you can imagine the discussions! J The last Soul Shift was Seen to the Unseen. Can we see the “heaven here on earth”? How do we interact with the unseen that helps us grow spiritually? How do we train our eyes and spirits to actually see the unseen, so that we stay right-minded? Such good questions to consider! It is not too late to join us, so please come! You don’t have to “catch up”; each session is complete in itself and is a challenge to have a more meaningful life and deeper relationship with our Lord.
