Agenda
Naushon Island, Massachusetts
“We have been able to turn off our generators most of the time, relying on a PV and battery bank and cutting out most of our fuel-oil consumption” --Paul Elias, Trustee, Naushon Trust
The Energy ChallengeMany rural communities throughout Vermont currently have little to no cellular coverage and are prone to prolonged power outages during severe storms. In 2011 Tropical Storm Irene left several of these communities without power, without communications and completely isolated for several days.
Vermont Cellular Resiliency Project and Northern Reliability’s SPS 24GTUsing innovative products, Vermont Telecom Authority is providing cell coverage to ten communities and Northern Reliability is providing grid-interactive solar power systems with battery backup to ensure that these communities have cell coverage even when utility power is down.
THE BENEFITS: Communities will have cellular coverage in town centers. Communications equipment will be “hardened” by the SPS 24GT solar power system to
ensure availability during power outages SPS 24GT solar power system will provide revenue for the town through net-metering.
SPS 24GT
• Fully autonomous power solution
• PV array, optional generator
• Industrial grade battery bank
• Environmentally controlled battery
cabinet
• Skid-mounted frame
• Grid-interactive inverter
