Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

COLOSSIANS 1:12-20 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. LUKE 23:35-43 And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

2019 CYO Operation Christmas Candy

“I was ill and you comforted me, in prison and you came to visit me.” Matthew 25:36

The Missionaries of Charity sisters have once again asked us to provide candy which they will distribute to prisoners on Christmas Day. They recommend the following which are approved by the prison system: Hershey’s Kisses®, hard candies, such as Brach’s, Jolly Ranchers, and Mars minis. These need to be in unopened sealed bags. No loose candy can be accepted. Large bins labeled OPERATION CHRISTMAS CANDY will be placed in the vestibules of Church from now until December 1st. Thank you for your generosity in supporting this cause.

If you require a low-gluten Host, please go to the priest celebrant for Holy Communion. You no longer need to provide your own.

Please Pray for Our Military on Active Duty It has recently come to our attention that members of our military have expressed valid concerns that through the internet and social media, there is the potential for family members to be tracked down while they are deployed. For that reason, we will no longer publicize the names of family members in the service but ask you to continue to offer prayers for them as they serve their country with honor.

We are so grateful to all those who financially sacrifice every week to support our parish and its ministries! We would especially like to thank all of those who faithfully use their weekly parish contribution envelopes and those who give online through the Parish Giving Program.

Spotlight on a St. Mark’s Ministry by Janet Ferrante Some of the children at Mt. Carmel School in

Asbury Park may not have a grandmother who knits, but St. Mark’s social concerns knitting group is sending the gift of a grandmother’s love to many of them at Christmas. On Thursdays throughout the year, a group of knitters gather at the rectory to share companionship with each other and their talent with others.

In the fall, the group starts on Christmas projects and for the last four years they knitted blankets for the kindergarten class at Mt. Carmel School. Sizes, colors and “degrees of perfection” vary, but they are typically large enough to cover a 5-year old from chin to toe. This year, the knitters are making neck scarves for some children in the upper grades to begin to send loving warmth to all the students at the school.

If you enjoy knitting, you are welcome to join them on Thursdays at 1:30 PM in the Rectory living room!

THANKS FOR GIVING! St. Mark’s Social Concerns

Committee would like to thank all who contributed to the success of our food drive to provide Thanksgiving dinners to those families that Mercy Center helps. As always, our parishioners have been most generous in making this endeavor so successful.

We would like to thank the CCD children and their parents for their generosity, as well. A special thanks to all the drivers who transported the food to Mercy Center.

We wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.

Sincerely, Pat Cademartori & Linda Zoufaly

Notice of Upcoming Second Collection: On the weekend of December 7th/8th, the second collection is for the retirement fund for religious. Thank you for your generosity!

It has many miracles attached to it. “Hail and blessed be the hour, and the moment, in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary in Bethlehem at midnight in the piercing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe O my God, to hear my prayers and grant my desires through the merits of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His most Blessed Mother.” Amen.
