In the same town there was a widow who kept on coming to him and saying “I want justice from you against my enemy!” For a long time he refused, but at last he said to himself, “Maybe I have neither fear of God nor respect for people, but since she keeps pestering me I must give this widow her just rights, or she will persist in coming and worry me to death.”.’ And the Lord said, ‘You notice what the unjust judge has to say? Now will not God see justice done to his chosen who cry to him day and night even when he delays to help them? I promise you, he will see justice done to them, and done speedily. SPORT ACHIEVEMENT Congratulations to one of our School House Captains Joseph Pamintuan on receiving the MVP for the St Albans Football Club for this year’s footy season. Joseph was an enthusiastic and positive player throughout the season and showed great sportsmanship and teamwork that enabled his team to achieve many successes. This positive attitude and willingness to put the needs of the team before his own achievements were just some of the many reasons he was nominated and then won the title of MVP for his club this year. Joseph also placed 4th overall in his age group 12c, which required him to compete for this title with a large number of players from different clubs throughout the area, not just his own. Joseph should be very proud of his accomplishments and we wish him every success in his future sporting endeavours. Well Done Joseph!

DONATION REQUEST We would love your help in sourcing some donations as Raffle Prizes for our Bush Dance on

Friday 25 November (more information to be supplied in November) Some business'

require a letter from the school to support the donation, and I have these if you need them

or they can be collected from the office. Ask your hairdresser, your favourite restaurant,

play centres, etc. Any donations/vouchers to be handed to the office or myself.

Thank you for your support.

CHANGE OF PE DAYS

The year 5/6 students will be having their specialist classes on Tuesday the 25th of October and the year 3/4 students on Wednesday 26th of October. They will be required to wear their PE uniform on these days.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS

Last Tuesday 11 October was the School Sports Victoria Western Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships. Resurrection Primary School was represented by seven students; Margaret, Anna, Macdalene, Lucas, Emmanuel, Jude and Sammi. All of these students should be extremely proud of their performances on the day, considering that they were competing in one of the largest regions in the state (our students were competing against other students from Essendon all the way down to Torquay!) and against students who do Little Athletics and/or have private athletics coaches.

Excitingly, Margaret placed 3rd in the 12 year old Girls Long Jump, Lucas placed 1st in the 12 year old Boys 100m sprint and the 12 year old boys placed 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay. Lucas and the relay team will now go on to compete at the State Athletics Championships on Monday 24 October at the Lakeside Stadium Albert Park. We wish them the very best of luck! PARENT HELPERS NEEDED PLEASE We are still planning for 2017 Interschool Sports. Next year we hope to resume competing in both the Summer and Winter sports and need some parent volunteers to help. If you are interested in helping coach any of the sports listed below and can commit to helping on Friday mornings in Term 1 and Friday afternoons in Term 2, can you please contact me via email [email protected] Anyone interested must hold a valid Working With Children’s Check and you don’t need to have a student in Year 6 to help out. We are happy for anyone in our school community with an interest in sports to help out. The sports that our students will be competing in are: Term 1 Term 2 Basketball Netball Cricket AFL Softball Soccer Tennis T-ball Rounders Volleyball

PARISH NEWS Year of Mercy As we approach the conclusion of this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy, we are reminded of what Pope Francis said in his initial announcement: “Mercy is the very foundation of the Church’s life. All of her pastoral activity should be caught up in the tenderness she makes present to believers; nothing in her preaching and in her witness to the world can be lacking in mercy.” (Misericordiae Vultus, 10). Resurrection parishioners are invited to celebrate the close of the Year of Mercy by a pilgrim walk from St Patrick's Cathedral back to our parish. The idea is to meet at St Patrick's at 1pm Sunday, 13th November and after a short prayer service pass through the Door of Mercy and walk back to Resurrection, bringing God's great mercy back to our parish! Social Events Group The Social Events Group is holding a Car Boot Sale on the 6thNovember, to register a $20 site please call the Parish Office or come along to pick up a bargain! Invitation to Parish BBQ Break – Up If you are in a Parish Group or part of a Ministry or help out in any way, you and your family are invited to come along to our end of year BBQ. Meat and drinks will be provided. Date:- 7th December 2016 Day:- Wednesday Time:- 7.00pm What to bring: A Salad or Dessert to share. It is our way of saying thank you to so many individuals and groups who have been faithful through out the year to their chosen ministry commitments and/or attended their group meeting on Parish Meeting Night on the first Wednesday of each month. So let’s get together; enjoy a meal, have some fun and get to know each other better or may be meet someone new who is as dedicated as you. Big Bulletin Rosters Next weekend the big bulletin will come out. Please check the rosters to see if you are scheduled on your particular ministry. Any queries about rosters contact the Parish Office. Visit from Fr Noel Do you want Fr Noel to visit you in your home? Do you want to make an appointment to see him in the Parish Office? Contact the Parish Office or leave your name and number at the Welcome Desk if you want a visit or an appointment.
