Dúchais Éireann – is a reference archive and resource centre for the traditional song, instrumental music and dance of Ireland. It is a public not-for-profit multi-media facility which is open, free of charge, to all with an interest in the contemporary and historical artforms of Irish traditional music. The Archive promotes public education in Irish traditional music through its own activities and through partnerships with others.

Accessing the Irish Traditional Music Archive

• You can visit the Archive at its premises at 73 Merrion Square, Dublin 2, from 10 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, throughout the year.

• It is closed only on Irish bank holidays and from Christmas Eve to New Year's Day inclusive.

Accessing the Irish Traditional Music Archive

• A visit is naturally the best option to benefit from the collections and information resources. An appointment is not necessary, but if you have special requirements or wish to talk to a particular member of staff it is advisable to phone before travelling.

• Listening facilities are provided for sound recordings which can be examined in their storage cabinets. Viewing facilities are available for photographs, videos and DVDs.
