Concurrently, it provides and supports web space in which faculty may experiment with new media, such as blogs and wikis. TLC Library e library features books about teaching and learning as well as equipment designed to enhance teaching and learning, such as media-capture and display devices (e.g. Swivls and Smartmarkers). Faculty Multiuse Room e TLC Suite features space and equipment designed to facilitate faculty collaboration, including curriculum planning, course development, media design, and other efforts related to teaching and learning. Introduction� e Chadron State College (CSC) Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) was established in 2011.

� e vision and mission for the TLC emerged from a faculty and sta� strategic planning process in which the Center was proposed to provide appropriate resources and services to faculty interested in enhancing their teaching through innovative pedagogical strategies and instructional technologies.

Mission� e mission of the TLC is to promote teaching excellence and scholarship of learning through faculty-driven initiatives.

� e TLC aims to achieve its mission by 1) providing avenues to explore alternative pedagogy and teaching techniques, 2) supporting faculty by providing resources for professional development, 3) fostering the exchange of ideas that promote the application of scholarly teaching within the college community, and 4) celebrating and learning from successes (and missteps) within a self-re� ective community.

Services� e TLC o� ers a broad array of services. In general, the unit supports � ve distinct areas: classroom technologies, online learning, instructional and media design, faculty/sta� development, and new-faculty orientation.

Speci� cally, the TLC provides:• learning management system (Sakai)

support• technology-mediated classroom

support and development• workshops, seminars, and institutes• online courses, tutorials, and webinars• web space and web log (blog) support• instructional technology SWOT

analyses• instructional media production and

post-production• Quality Matters (QM) training and

course reviews• instructional design for dean-endorsed

courses and programs• individual consultations about course

and program design• new faculty orientation and new faculty

support• faculty fellowships (two per year)• library book and equipment loans• meeting and collaboration space.

With input from its advisory committee and feedback from faculty, the TLC continues to evolve its services. Listed below are some of the highlights:

New Faculty Orientation� e New Faculty Orientation (NFO) program has been a feature of the TLC since its inception. It’s a full-year program that provides just-in-time, practical guidance and information to new faculty.

Seminars, Workshops, Institutes� e TLC o� ers a variety of seminars, workshops, and institutes during the academic year. � ese are open to faculty and sta� members in Academic A� airs who are interested in instructional strategies and technologies. Seating for faculty is prioritized, and workshop meetings are designed around faculty schedules.

Faculty Fellows� e TLC funds two fellowships per year. Faculty receive stipends to develop projects that support the TLC mission as well as the priorities of the Master Academic Plan.

Consultations and TechnologiesTLC sta� and faculty-a� liates provide one-on-one consultations to assist with questions about teaching, learning, and technology adoption.
