Resin Finishes

he Romans have used Venetian plaster for centuries to create architectural

masterpieces, elegant foyers and bedrooms, and lavish bathrooms. The Rialto

product line is made in Italy and carries on the long tradition of fine Italian

plaster finishes. In fact, Rialto was recently selected by the Roman Antiquities

Department to preserve a portion of the ancient Colosseum in Rome. Now these

remarkable Italian plaster products are available in the American market.

Vero, the national distributor of Rialto’s Italian plaster finishes, was founded

in 2001, and has since established itself all over the United States for its

exceptional seasoned slaked lime products, including Antiqua and Epoca

Spatolato. In addition, Vero also offers a wide range of captivating resin

plasters suitable for interior use in the finest residences and places of business.

These finishes are made up of quartz, granite, and resin binders that achieve

authentic Venetian plaster effects using European resins and pigments containing

very low VOC’s. These resin plasters can create polished, glossy, sophisticated

interiors, including matte and cloudy appearances. Our metallic products can

be used to create striking contemporary looks in a range of colors, from gold

and silver, to bronze and copper. All of these products allow for depth of color

and movement that cannot be attained using conventional materials. Vero

stocks, tints, and mixes the Rialto products in its Orange, California facility.

Customers may choose from hundreds of stock colors, or we can match any

custom color specified. We highly suggest selecting a color swatch from any

paint manufacturers fan deck. We pride ourselves on giving each sample

board, production order, color match, and applicator class personal attention for

complete customer satisfaction.

Solution is the latest generation of Venetian plaster with a traditional look and the most advanced technology in the paint and plaster world. This versatile decorative plaster incorporates siloxane resins and repels water, making it ideal for exteriors and interiors subject to moisture. Solution makes glossy finishes easy—simply burnish with a dry trowel to achieve a high-gloss look. We have a variety of standard colors to choose from, or will we gladly customize any color of your choice. This resin based plaster product can be applied on exterior surfaces primed with Rialto Finish, interior surfaces with Primer One, as an undercoat for the metallic finishes, or over Rialto Antiqua.

Evolution is an interior polished plaster designed to transform ordinary walls into extraordinary works of art. The concept originated near Venice, Italy and has inspired artists for centuries. Evolution can be shiny or matte, translucent or opaque, depending on the spatula technique and the final smoothing process. This finish creates an elegant look. Evolution can be applied on finished plaster, prefabricated board, plasterboard and old mineral or water based paint.

This particular technique was first introduced in Venice in the Eighteenth century. Veneziano is an interior stucco finish that gives the walls an ancient, refined and elegant charm. Different decorative effects can be achieved, such as annuvolato (cloudy), where the spatula strokes fade into one another, or encausto (burnishing), where the product is applied on fine plaster and strongly polished with a trowel. Veneziano can be applied to drywall and existing painted surfaces.

Rialto Stucco Oro (gold), Argento (silver), Bronzo (bronze), and Ottone (copper) are beautiful stucco finishes which exhibit a metallic spatula effect for interior walls. The products are based on resins and special pigments which are water resistant, ready-to-use, and which provide quality adhesion.

These four metallic finishes are generally applied over Evolution or Solution, but can also be applied over Veneziano as well as to fine plaster, drywall, and old mineral or resin based paint to achieve the unique spatula effect. Below is a chart of the suggested Evolution undercoat colors to give the metallic finishes their full effect:

Sapone Sealer is composed of genuine soapstone ideal for use over Solution and Evolution as well as our seasoned slaked lime finish Epoca Spatolato. This product can be applied on interior walls in thin layers using a chrome trowel or "buff on with rag" using circular motions. It imparts movement and casts a satin sheen on the wall. It may lighten and cloud more porous plasters, like Antiqua. Sapone Sealer can be tinted to achieve a variety of decorative effects.

era D’ Arte is our highest gloss, most protective sealer, suitable for use over all resin and lime finishes on interior wall surfaces only. This solvent based product can be applied using a spatula, trowel, or rag, and complies with regional VOC standards.

Finish is a resin based protective coating for interiors and exteriors, formulated with hard aggregates such as granite. It is a vapor permeable product that fills and covers the irregularities on wall surfaces. Finish is used as a crack-resistant base coat for many of the Vero

plaster products, and can also be used as a finish coat.

Primer One is a fine white priming coat for interiors only made with fine aggregates. An ideal base coat for application over smooth, flat surfaces. When used as a base coat for plaster, Finish and Primer One can be tinted to closely match the finish plaster coat. They can applied to plaster, architectural concrete, brick, galvanized sheets, drywall, wood and previously painted surfaces (whitewash/washable/oil, etc.).
