RESEARCHING TRENDS IN FILMS ON DEMAND
A Guide : By Emily Z. Brown
WHAT IS FILMS ON DEMAND?
Films on Demand is a web-based digital video delivery service that allows you instant 24/7 access to over 6,200 full-length programs and 65,800 video segments grouped into prearranged subject-specific categories:
• Humanities & Social Sciences
• Business & Economics
• Science & Mathematics
• Health & Medicine
• Technical Education
• Family & Consumer Sciences
• Careers & Job Search
• Guidance & Counseling.
FINDING THE FILMS ON DEMAND DATABASE
Using the same box on the library homepage as you did for the catalog search, click on Videos and then click on Films on Demand (below the search box).
By doing this you will open the Films on Demand Database.
SEARCHING FILMS ON DEMAND
Enter your search terms in the box at the top of the page. You can search by• Segment, or by• Title
Searching by segment will search for your terms in more places, searching by title will search for your terms only in the title of the film.
I searched by segment for the term “twitter” and chose a video that seemed relevant to my research.
SEARCHING FILMS ON DEMAND
Once you have selected a film you would like to use in your research you can watch it directly through the Films on Demand database.
Since I searched by segment, you can see that there are other segments in the larger film “Investigative Reporting in the Digital Era.” There may be other parts of the film relevant to my research.
Directly below the video are links to email for favorite a video for later use, as well as a citation tool for citing the video.
Thus concludes our exploration of finding streaming videos about your chosen trend.
