Introduction

“ Measuring Building Performance-Energy Efficiency Software Tools “ by Niki Ziai the author

talks about the Building performance measurements and analysis. According to this paper the

consideration of energy efficient construction is very important if we thought about designing a

sustainable green building.

Review

To measure the efficiency there are wide range of building calculation and modelling tools

which are available to designers and engineers to guide them in their planning and analysis. With

these paper author briefly describes the basic methods in calculating thermal performance with

the help of a energy tool To the development of tools that calculate, model, and simulate various

aspects of building performance the advancements in science, technology, and industry as well

as a growing awareness of the need to respect and preserve environmental resources contributes

a lot. The tools on the site range from those that deal at the whole building level to those that

analyze specific materials, components, equipment, and systems, the programs vary in their

levels of accuracy, required effort, and cost. The programs associated with the energy tool helps

the designer to deal with different phases in the design process as they choose available options

in finding the appropriate program as per their ability to match the tool to the task and a program

suites their specific needs, level of expertise, and budget. From the whole building design guide ,

author picks a flow chart which helps to determine the energy cost are as follows first have to

entered value is correct in the enlisted column like the type of roof, the wall, the glass, etc. Each

and every small detail of material is valuable for the calculation of the energy cost. The software

does his work and shows the results in the form of charts and graphs. Now its a turn of an

designer to analyse the projected graphs and result and than finalizing the project.

These tools helps to generate the projection of an project before the work will execute. These

helps the designer to create a perfect high performance building with the minimization of energy

load and to determine the energy cost of the building.
