Important Rules of the RoadOnly one travel grant and one research grant per academic year

SRC requires detailed budgets

STU Research Ethics Board must approve the project before funds are released

Must use the funds by the deadline date, or apply for an extension from the Research Office. Any money left over after the grant period will be returned to the pool. Account surplus and deficits are carried forward annually

Computer hardware or software purchases are exempt

When submitting reimbursement forms, itemized receipts are required. The finance office DOES NOT ACCEPT DEBIT SLIPS.

To make significant changes to research plan, it must be pre-approved by SRC

competition

• The number of grants per competition

• What impact the new committee structure will have on adjudication

• The impact on small institutions

CIHR Institutes*CIHR integrates research through a unique interdisciplinary structure made up of 13 "virtual" institutes. CIHR's Institutes are not buildings or research centres, but networks of researchers brought together to focus on important health problems.

Aboriginal Peoples' Health Aging Cancer Research Circulatory and Respiratory Health Gender and Health Genetics Health Services and Policy Research Human Development, Child and Youth Health Infection and Immunity Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes Population and Public Health

New at CIHRCIHR categorizes health research in four broad themes:Biomedical Research *Clinical Research *Health Services Research *Social

, Cultural, Environmental and Population Health Research *

These areas of research are not mutually exclusive; therefore the definitions are intended as guides and not as descriptions of eligible areas of research.
