I am not an athlete…

I got involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma

Society after my friend Lori’s husband, Jim, passed away

on December 27, 2006.

He had Leukemia.

I miss Jim…

I walk in his memory

My inspiration comes from…

Our team patient hero – Sharon

I walk in her honor

My inspiration comes from…

My co-worker Brian who is currently battling lymphoma

God Bless him and his family

I walk in his honor

My inspiration also comes from the man whose words and music have provided me much comfort throughout the past 30 years.

I walk in his memory

He succumbed to prostate cancer December 16, 2007…

Page 9: Gayle Rock N Roll

I have learned…

•How to successfully fundraise as a team and as an individual

Page 10: Gayle Rock N Roll

I have also learned…

that I can hang with the younger crowd at a fundraising Pub Crawl

Not all night though!

I am not an athlete, yet I am walking more than 20 miles per week now in preparation for the

marathon on June 1.

Page 12: Gayle Rock N Roll

I have improved my health, increased my confidence, raised more than $5,000 and shared my new-found knowledge of blood cancers with many.

To everyone who responded to my requests for donations, assisting me in my fundraising efforts for LLS, I can’t thank you enough and I’m

proud to represent you at the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon in San Diego. All of

you will be walking along side of me in spirit on June 1.

(Feel free to give me a kick if I start to lag)

Page 14: Gayle Rock N Roll

To me it’s not a race…

it’s a personal challenge to walk 13.1 miles in 3 ½ hours.

Page 15: Gayle Rock N Roll

I was only looking to make a difference in the life of at least one person affected by a

blood cancer.

And in the process of doing that, I made a difference in mine.

The power of giving is amazing, isn’t it?

I’m not looking for special recognition.
