REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Clarion County Hotel Tax Grant Application Creative Projects Creative Projects: This grant is not for marketing but rather than development or expansion of a program, event, festival or facility. Creative Projects are collaborative activities among various Clarion County partnerships that generate overnight stays in Clarion County. The funds may also be used to enhance or assist with the growth of an existing event. Examples: A conference held in Clarion contains a package plan with a golf course or a winery, a 2 or 3 day conference, craft tours that work together, a festival expansion, or a facility that provides an entire season of programs to enhance overnight stays. REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE THE GRANT: 1. The event must work directly with lodging facilities to provide overnight stays. 2. If the grant is for a facility, the facility must work closely with the surrounding area and be linked to all local sites. 3. An event and/or facility must work closely with another entity to coordinate and encourage the attendees to visit local shops, restaurants, etc. 4. A suggested itinerary for the attendees to leave the venue and visit other parts of the County. 5. The grantee must list the event on PA Great Outdoor’s website (https://visitpago.com) and/or calendar at least 3 months in advance. 6. All advertisements, including the event’s website, must not only list the event details but also include local opportunities to encourage the attendees to spend more than one day in the area. Identify lodging facilities, trails, entertainment venues, shopping, etc. in the County and include their contact information and websites. 7. Use social media starting at least 6 weeks before the event. Once again, advertise the festival and provide links to other community assets. 8. The event must have at least one booth or table set up to act as a “tourism” guide for all visitors. 9. The grant funds cannot be used for paid advertisement with PAGO. It is free to be placed on PAGO’s calendar of events and/or to be listed. The events funds can be used to pay for advertising with PAGO, which can also be included as the match for the grant funds. 10. Clarion Hotel Tax funds cannot be used to advertise in the local newspaper but the grant funds may be used to advertise on Facebook or other social media. 11. Grant funds cannot be used to pay for staff. 12. There must be proof a 25% match. This match may be either cash, in‐kind or a combination of both. PLEASE NOTE: 50% of the grant funds awarded will be provided prior to the event. Invoices for costs must be provided within 60 days of the event with the final closeout report. After those documents are received and reviewed, the remaining 50% of the grant funds will be reimbursed, as applicable.
