The following data was consolidated from 5,000 field reps using Mobile CRM and Data Collection software in 44 countries over a one year period
Managers of mobile workers have difficulty in quantifying the performance of their team
Without being in the field with their team, it is hard to see if operations are being conducted productively and efficiently.
Our research aims to provide you with a baseline to measure productivity, focus, and overall accountability of a field organization.
We focused on 6 key metrics
1. Number of Visits Per Day
2. Number of Activities Per Visit
3. Minutes Per Visit
4. Minutes Per Activity
5. Productive Time
6. Number of Photos Per Visit
And looked at data across 5 regions around the world
So here is what we found…
An average mobile rep made 7.3visits per day
Cross culturally, Latin America had the most number of days
with an average of 9.6 visits per day
Which is 78% more than African reps who make 5.4
visits per day
However, Latin American reps report 25% less working time
than Africa
Latin American reps spends 17 minutes per visit while
African reps spends 37

Next up is number of activities per visit
Activities consist of filling out mobile forms, creating orders,
completing audits, taking notes, taking photos, etc.
An average field rep conducts 3.3 activities per visit.

We then looked at time per visit

Europe spent the shortest amount of time with customers with 16
minutes vs. Africa that spent 37 minutes per visit
Next up is Time Per Activity

Asian reps took the least amount of time per activity with 4
minutes
European reps, on the other hand, took 12 minutes per activity,
which is 3X more than Asian reps
We also looked at the ratio of time spent on site and total time spent
working
Productive Time refers to the time spent on site with clients selling,
building relationships, etc.
In contrast to non productive time, which refers to time spent on
administrative tasks, traveling time, etc.
Out of an average of 480 minutes worked per day, only 66% of a
mobile worker’s time was “productive”
Asia Pacific reps spent on 89% of their time on site
In comparison to Europe with 43% of time spent on site
Last but not least, we looked into the number of photos taken per
day
Photos are often used as proof of service, documentation, competitor information

The US had the highest number of photos taken per visit with 20 taken
per day
In comparison to Europe with 5 photos taken per day, which is only
25% of the US
All in all, these KPIs are heavily influenced by culture, geography,
and general economics of the region
