KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Christina Lamb, OBE Christina Lamb, Order of the British Empire, is one of Britain’s leading foreign correspondents, a best-selling author, an inspirational speaker and a mum. At the age of 21, an unexpected wedding invitation led her to live in Peshawar in 1988 and cover the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan for which she was named Young Journalist of the Year. Since then she has covered wars all over the world and won numerous awards, including the prestigious Prix Bayeux-Calvados—Europe’s top prize for war reporting—in 2009. In addition to being named Foreign Correspondent of the Year five times, she was also Amnesty International’s 2015 Newspaper Journalist of the Year, recognized for her reporting on Libya and the refugee crisis. Now Chief Foreign Correspondent for the Sunday Times, she has been based in Pakistan, Rio de Janeiro, South Africa and Washington. She is the author of the best-selling The Africa House, Waiting for Allah, The Sewing Circles of Herat, Small Wars Permitting and I Am Malala, coauthored with Malala Yousafzai. Her new book, Farewell Kabul: From Afghanistan to a More Dangerous World, will be published in the U.S. in May 2015.
