Who should attend? Everyone in the Division has a role to play and a voice to be heard in this discussion. ANR academics and staff from all ANR units are welcome to attend:

ANR academics (advisors, specialists, academic coordinators and administrators and Ag Experiment Station faculty)

ANR and county-paid program staff

ANR and county-paid administrative staff

Graduate students

There are no registration fees for ANR employees to participate and travel expenses will be reimbursed. Non-academic ANR employees should coordinate time away with your supervisor, county director or program director before registering or making travel arrangements. Please be aware that if you cancel after April 2, 2013, you will be assessed a $300 charge.

How do I benefit by attending?The conference opens on April 9 with a day-long Global Food Systems Forum to address how to sustainably feed 8 billion people by 2025. The discussion will bring together people from a dynamic range of disciplines, including farmers, researchers, policymakers, economists, environmentalists and geopolitical experts. The program features keynote addresses by Mary Robinson, former president of

Ireland and president of the Mary Robinson Foundation — Climate Justice, and Wes Jackson, founder and president of The Land Institute.

On April 10–11, the conference focuses on ANR programs and forward-looking ideas that will enable ANR to continue as a leader in research and extension. We will reflect on our Strategic Vision and examine how our Initiative process has worked over the last four years. Conference sessions have been planned to be of interest academics as well as program and administrative staff.

Look over the conference program for Days 2 and 3 to find concurrent sessions that will stimulate your thinking, help you do your work better or let you learn something new.

The poster session is designed to highlight ANR research that exemplifies the Strategic Initiatives and the 2025 Strategic Vision. This is a chance for ANR academics to illustrate how their research addresses critical questions that inform Californians and the world. The poster session deadline has been extended through March 15.

A variety of program teams, workgroups and other project teams are meeting during the conference. If you would like your group to meet, contact the Program Support Unit as soon as possible as space is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
