Replacing an old fireplace with a new –
is it worth it?Author : Henri Kalm
I have always been a fan of fireplaces. And luckily, the house we
bought eighteen months ago had a fireplace in the living room. I have
been using the fireplace almost every day in the winter time and in
the summer on rainy days, so one can imagine that it is quite many
working hours for the fireplace. However, recently I read an article in
the local newspaper, which said that the technology and the know-
how of building fireplaces is on a totally different level than it use to
be even only twenty years ago. Of course, the fireplace from fifty
years back produces heat and there is the beautiful flickering fire but
there is so much more to it than just that.
Apparently there are great differences in the way a fireplace reserves
and distributes heat. So, for example, a fireplace from fifty years ago
with a lazy system will lose up to 60 percent of the heat because it
doesn’t have the heat reserving capacities. Also, if the fireplace throat
has been designed and engineered well, it is less harmful than many
of the older ones. These things are really something every fireplace
owner should ponder on. You save a great penny by investing in a
fireplace that is almost 100 percent heat reserving and preserving and
does not affect the quality of the air in any way. So, after reading this
article I decided to find out about these new era fireplaces. After all,
the fireplace we had that came with the house was more than twenty
years old. And my priority is in the end to make sure that my family
has the safest environment to be and to grow.
From an acquaintance I heard about Uunisepät which is on the top of
technology concerning fireplace development and engineering.
Indeed, when I went to visit their store to find more about their
fireplaces, I was impressed how technical Uunisepät is and how
much effort they put into making the best possible fireplaces. After
talking with the experts at Uunisepät, I am more than sure that I
want my family to live in a secure environment by installing a new era
fireplace.
