Installation• Remove all the packaging and the transit

bolts.• Keep the transit bolts. When you move

the appliance again you must block thedrum.

Detergent dispenser drawer Compartment for detergent used for

prewash and soak phase or for stain re-mover used during the stain action phase (ifavailable). The prewash and soak deter-gent is added at the beginning of the washprogramme. The stain remover is addedduring the stain action phase.

Door safety buttonThis appliance incorporates a special fea-ture to prevent children and pets becom-ing trapped inside the drum.

To activate this de-vice, rotate the but-ton clockwise (with-out pressing it) in-side the door untilthe groove is hori-zontal. If necessaryuse a coin.

To disable this de-vice and restore thepossibility of closingthe door, rotate thebutton anticlockwiseuntil the groove isvertical.

Programme selector dial It allows you to switch the appliance On/Off and/or to selecta programme.

Delay Start button This button allows you to delay the start of the programmeby 3, 6 or 9 hours.

When selecting a washing programme both lights 3.1 and3.2 illuminate.When you have pressed the button 4 the only light corre-sponding to the running phase stays on.The appliance starts working and the door is locked.The light 3.3 illuminates at the end of the washing cycle. Af-ter a few minutes the door can be opened.

If the draining programme is selected any light will illu-minate.

Start/Pause button This button allows you to start or to interrupt the selectedwashing programme.

Spin reduction button By pressing this button you can change the spin speed of theselected programme.• Rinse Hold

By selecting this option the water of the last rinse is notemptied out to prevent the fabrics from creasing. Beforeopening the door it will be necessary to empty out the wa-ter. To empty out the water, please read the paragraph«At the end of the programme».

Multi-Functions button: By pressing this button, you can select only one of the op-tions. The relevant light will light up.• Prewash

By selecting this option the appliance performs a prewashcycle before the main wash phase. The washing time willbe prolonged. This option is recommended for heavilysoiled laundry.

• Super Quick By selecting this option the appliance performs a veryshort cycle for slightly soiled items that have been worn fora short time.

Extra Rinse button This appliance is designed for saving energy. If it necessaryto rinse the laundry using an extra quantity of water (extrarinse), select this option. Some additional rinses will be per-formed. This option is recommended for people who are al-lergic to detergents, and in areas where the water is verysoft.

First use1. Ensure that the electrical and water

connections comply with the installationinstructions.

2. Remove any material from the drum.3. Pour 2 liters of water into the main

wash compartment of the detergentdrawer in order to activate the ECOvalve.

Select a cotton cycle at the highest tem-perature without any laundry in the ap-pliance, to remove any manufacturingresidue from the drum and tub.Pour 1/2 a measure of detergent intothe main wash compartment and startthe appliance.

Measure out detergent and fabricsoftener1 Pour the detergent

Close the drawer gentlySelect the required programme by turningthe programme selector dial (1)The appliance is now switched on. The indi-cator light of button 4 starts to blink.At the end of the programme the selectordial must be turned to position O, to switchthe appliance off.

For the description of each wash cycle,the compatibility among the washing

programmes and the options, consult thechapter «Washing Programmes».

Caution! If you turn the programmeselector dial to another programme

when the appliance is working, the redindicator light of button 4 will blink 3 timesto indicate a wrong selection. The

appliance will not perform the new selectedprogramme.Reduce the spin speed by pressing button7By selecting a programme, the applianceproposes automatically the maximum spinspeed provided for that programme.Press button 7 repeatedly to change thespin speed, if you want your laundry to bespun at a different speed. The relevant indi-cator light illuminates.Select the available options by pressingbuttons 7, 6 and 5Depending on the programme, differentfunctions can be combined. These must beselected after choosing the desired pro-gramme and before starting the pro-gramme.When these buttons are pressed, the corre-sponding indicator lights illuminate. Whenthey are pressed again, the indicator lightsgo out. If an incorrect option is selected, theintegrated red indicator light of the button 4flashes for 3 times.

chapter «Washing Programmes».Select the Delay Start by pressing button2Before you start the programme, if you wishto delay the start, press the button 2 re-peatedly, to select the desired delay. Therelevant light illuminates.You must select this option after you haveset the programme and before you start theprogramme.You can cancel or modify the delay time atany moment, before you press button 4.

Selecting the delayed start:1. Select the programme and the required

options.2. Select the delay start by pressing the

button 2.3. Press button 4:

– the appliance starts its countdown.– The programme will start after the

selected delay has expired.Cancelling the delayed start after havingstarted the programme:1. Set the washing appliance to PAUSE by

pressing button 4.2. Press button 2 once, the light relevant

to the selected delay goes off3. Press button 4 again to start the pro-

gramme.The Delay Start can not be selected withDRAIN programme.Important! The selected delay can bechanged only after selecting the washingprogramme again.The door will be locked throughout the de-lay time. If you need to open the door, youmust set the appliance to PAUSE (by press-ing the button 4) and then wait a few mi-nutes. After you have closed the door, pressthe button 4 again.Start the programme by pressing button 4To start the selected programme, press thebutton 4, the corresponding green indicatorlight stops blinking. The indicator light cor-responding to the running phase illumi-nates. The appliance starts operating andthe door is locked.To interrupt a programme which is running,press the button 4: the corresponding greenindicator light starts blinking.To restart the programme from the point atwhich it was interrupted, press the button 4again. If you have chosen a delayed start,the appliance will begin the countdown.If an incorrect option is selected, the red in-dicator light of the button 4 blinks 3 times.Altering an option or a runningprogrammeIt is possible to change some options beforethe programme carries them out.

Before you make any change, you mustPAUSE the appliance by pressing the button4.Changing a running programme is possibleonly by resetting it. Turn the programme se-lector dial to O and then to the new pro-gramme position. Start the new programmeby pressing the button 4 again. The wash-ing water in the tub will be not emptied out.Interrupting a programmePress the button 4 to interrupt a programmewhich is running, the corresponding greenindicator light starts blinking.Press the button again to restart the pro-gramme.Cancelling a programmeTurn the selector dial to O to cancel a pro-gramme which is running.You can select now a new programme.Opening the doorAfter the programme has started the door islocked. If, for any reason, you need to openit, set firstly the appliance to PAUSE bypressing the button 4. After a few minutes itwill be possible to open the door.If the door remains locked, this means thatthe appliance is already heating or that thewater level is too high. In any case, do nottry to force the door!If you cannot open the door but you needto open it you have to switch the applianceoff by turning the selector dial to O. After afew minutes the door can be opened (payattention to the water level and tempera-ture!).After closing the door, it is necessary to se-lect the programme and options again andto press button 4.At the end of the programmeThe appliance stops automatically. The in-dicator light of button 4 and the indicatorlight corresponding to the just finishedwashing phase goes off. The light 3.3 illumi-nates. After a few minutes the door can beopened.

If a programme or an option that ends withwater left in the tub has been selected, thelight 3.3 illuminates but the door remainslocked to indicate that the water must beemptied out before opening the door.During this time the drum continues to turnat regular intervals until water draining.Follow the below instructions to empty outthe water:1. Turn the programme selector dial to O.2. Select the draining or spinning pro-

gramme.3. Reduce the spin speed if needed, by

pressing the button 7.4. Press button 4.

At the end of the programme, the door canbe now opened. Turn the programme selec-tor dial to O to switch the appliance off.Remove the laundry from the drum andcarefully check that the drum is empty. Ifyou do not intend to carry out anotherwash, close the water tap. Leave the dooropen to prevent any mildew and unpleas-ant smells.

Stand by: once the programme hasfinished the energy saving system is

enabled with the pilot lights switched on. Bypressing any button the appliance will comeout of the energy saving status.

Hints and tipsSorting out the laundryFollow the wash code symbols on each gar-ment label and the manufacturer’s washinginstructions. Sort the laundry as follows:whites, coloureds, synthetics, delicates,woollens.Removing stainsStubborn stains may not be removed by justwater and detergent. It is therefore advisa-ble to treat them prior to washing.Blood: treat fresh stains with cold water. Fordried stains, soak overnight in water with astain remover product then rub in the soapand water.Oil based paint: moisten with benzine stainremover, lay the garment on a soft clothand dab the stain; treat several times.Dried grease stains: moisten with turpen-tine, lay the garment on a soft surface anddab the stain with the fingertips and a cot-ton cloth.Rust: oxalic acid dissolved in hot water or arust removing product used cold. Be carefulwith rust stains which are not recent sincethe cellulose structure will already havebeen damaged and the fabric tends tohole.Mould stains: treat with bleach, rinse well(white cottons and fast coloureds only).

Grass: soap lightly and treat with bleach(white cottons and fast coloureds only).Ball point pen and glue: moisten with ace-tone1), lay the garment on a soft cloth anddab the stain.Lipstick: moisten with acetone as above,then treat stains with methylated spirits.Treat any residual marks with bleach.Red wine: soak in water and detergent,rinse and treat with acetic or citric acid,then rinse. Treat any residual marks withbleach.Ink: depending on the type of ink, moistenthe fabric first with acetone1), then with ace-tic acid; treat any residual marks on whitefabrics with bleach and then rinse thor-oughly.Tar stains: first treat with stain remover, me-thylated spirits or benzine, then rub withdetergent paste.Degrees of water hardnessWater hardness is classified in so-called“degrees” of hardness. Information onhardness of the water in your area can beobtained from the relevant water supplycompany, or from your local authority.

Cleaning the dispenser drawer and thedrawer recess1 To remove the

drawer, press thecatch downwardsand pull it out.

2 To aid cleaning, re-move also the toppart of the additivecompartment.

3 Use a stiff brush toclean and removeall washing powderresidue.

4 Flush out all the re-moved parts of thedispenser drawerunder a tap to re-move any traces ofaccumulated pow-der.

5 Use the previousbrush to clean therecess, ensuringthat upper and low-er part of it is wellcleaned.After havingcleaned the dis-penser and thedrawer recess, re-place it and run arinse programmewithout any laundryin the drum to flushaway any residue.

Cleaning the pumpProceed as follows:1

4 Remove any objectsfrom the pump im-peller by rotating it.

5 Use a pencil tocheck whether thepump wheel right atthe back of thepump housing canturn. (It is normal forthe pumping wheelto turn jerkily.) If thepumping wheelcannot be turned,please contact theAfter Sales Service.

6 Put the cap back onthe emergencyemptying hose andplace the latterback in its seat.Screw the pumpfully in.

Cleaning the water inlet filtersIf the appliance takes long to fill with wateror doesn't fill, the starting button indicatorlight blinks in red. Check if the water inlet fil-ters are blocked (see chapter "What to doif..." for more details).Proceed as follows:

1 • Turn off the watertap.

• Unscrew the hosefrom the tap.

• Clean the filter inthe hose with astiff brush.

• Screw firmly theinlet hose backonto the tap.

• Unscrew the hose from the appliance.Keep a rag nearby because some wa-ter may flow.

• Clean the filter in the valve with a stiffbrush or with the piece of cloth.

• Screw the water inlet hose back on andreposition the emergency emptying hoseafter having put the cap on again.

• When you intend to start the applianceup again, make sure that the room tem-perature is above 0°C.

Important! Every time you drain the waterthrough the emergency emptying hose youmust pour 2 litres of water into the mainwash compartment of the detergent drawerand then run the drain programme. This willactivate the ECO VALVE device avoidingthat part of the detergent remains unusedat next washing.Emergency emptying outIf the water is not discharged, proceed asfollows to empty out the appliance:

• pull out the plug from the power socket;• close the water tap;• if necessary, wait until the water has

cooled down;• open the pump door;• place a bowl on the floor and place the

end of the emergency emptying hose intothe bowl. Remove its cap. The watershould drain by gravity into the bowl.When the bowl is full, put the cap backon the hose. Empty the bowl. Repeat theprocedure until water stops flowing out;

• clean the pump if necessary as previouslydescribed;

• replace the emergency emptying hose inits seat after having plugged it;

• screw the pump cover again and closethe door.

TroubleshootingThe appliance does not start or stops duringoperation. It is possible that the red indica-tor light of button 4 blinks to indicate thatthe appliance is not working.

Before contacting your local Service Centre,please carry out the checks listed below.

The electronic unbalance detectiondevice has cut in because the laun-dry is not evenly distributed in thedrum. The laundry is redistributedby reverse rotation of the drum.This may happen several times be-fore the unbalance disappearsand normal spinning can resume.If, after 10 minutes, the laundry isstill not evenly distributed in thedrum, the appliance will not spin.

Redistribute the load manually orload more laundry and select thespin programme.

There is wateron the floor:

Too much detergent or unsuitabledetergent (creates too much foam)has been used.

Reduce the detergent quantity oruse another one.

Check whether there are any leaksfrom one of the inlet hose fittings. Itis not always easy to see this asthe water runs down the hose;check to see if it is damp.

Check the water inlet hose connec-tion.

The drain or inlet hose is dam-aged.

Replace it with a new one (checkwith the After Sales Service theright spare part number).

The cap on the emergency empty-ing hose has not been replaced orthe filter has not been properlyscrewed in after cleaning action.

Refit the cap on the emergencyemptying hose or screw the filterfully in.
