The ACY fleet has been making a big splash on the high seas, logging outstanding catches and making a major impression onthe tournament circuit.

The ACY65 QUE MAS achieved a stunning upset in the 2007Sea Horse Anglers Club Billfish Tournament – a Bermuda TripleCrown event. With just two hours left in the tournament, QUE MASwas in fifth place when they hooked into a blue, vaulting theminto second. Then, with just 30 minutes of fishing left, they hookedinto a pair of whites, releasing the first one just before lines out, securing the victory. Proving their love for the sport, the QUE MASteam spent another 15 minutes battling the second white, hookedon a spinner, just for fun. The final tally: a 570 lb. blue marlin,a blue release and six white releases.

The QUE MAS and sister ACY65 FREE ENTERPRISE are prepar-ing to ship via transport to the Pacific where they will fish their waythrough Central America and up the coast to Cabo San Lucas, where they will join the ACY63 STEPHANIE LEE, winner of the

ASK THE YACHT DOCTORS©

Q: How often should I have my vessel’s running gear inspected?

YD: It is wise to have running gear, struts and shafts inspectedfor cracks at every haul-out, especially if there has been a vibra-tion or a propeller running loose. A dye test can magnify eventhe smallest hairline cracks and signs of stress not visible to thenaked eye. Be sure to have the tapered portion of the shafts inspect-ed carefully, as well as all welds and castings -- these are com-mon area for stress. If a stress crack is discovered on a shaft, askthe service yard if the shaft needs to be replaced or if there isanother remedy.
