Welcome to Cannes, this former fisherman’s village made famous by Coco Chanel, a city linked to the world of cinema since 1946. Here you may stroll along the most famous promenade of the French Riviera, with its palm trees, its palaces, and its luxury boutiques on the bay of Cannes. Visit the picturesque old town to see a completely different side to the city – as well as stunning views over the Côte d’Azur.

EAHP is pleased to invite you to the 22nd Congress of the EAHP, 22-24 March 2017, in Cannes, with the theme of “Hospital pharmacists – catalysts for change”. The scientific program is relevant for you as a hospital pharmacist dealing with the challenge of rapid change in healthcare. The hospital pharmacist’s role in facilitating change will be addressed. EAHP’s annual congress is the largest congress for hospital pharmacy in Europe and attracts pharmacists from all over the world. The EAHP Congress continues to provide you with an exceptional opportunity to meet, network and share expertise and best practice with colleagues while keeping up to date with the latest developments in hospital pharmacy and learning about the latest products and innovations.

FOREWORD BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Dear Friends in European Hospital Pharmacy,

The 2017 EAHP Congress will be taking place in Cannes from 22-24 March, 2017 with seminars and workshops centred around the theme “Hospital Pharmacists - catalysts for change.” Last year’s congress theme was “Hospital Pharmacists taking the lead”. If you have started this right after the congress you will have noticed that the process does not always go smoothly and easily. Something is missing in that process. This year we will help you to increase your input substantially, without being transformed yourselves while acting as a catalyst for change. A catalyst supports the reaction without being consumed or transformed.

The 22nd EAHP Congress will offer you inspiration for the role as a catalyst in the process of developing your every day job and influencing the future of your profession.

Keynote presentations such as “New medicines at any cost?” will inform you on the pharmaco-economic problems we are now facing with the introduction of new drugs with exorbitantly higher prices. New computer technology opens the door to the collection of big data. How should we handle this? What are the risks in using this data for the development of new strategies in healthcare? Keynote 3 will focus on EAHP’s effort to achieve recognition on the European Level as a professional body for Hospital Pharmacists by explaining our activities in the Common Training Framework (CTF).

The 12 congress seminars, which are open for interaction with the speakers, are related to three themes: Leadership and management, Innovation, Pharmacotherapy and Best point of service. The theme Leadership and Management will deal with Pharmacy Quality Management Systems, preparing for accreditation and the role of automation. As professionals and scientists we must promote innovation and research in our daily work as much as possible. The theme Pharmacotherapy will be highlighted by seminars on breakthroughs in Immuno-oncology and the elderly patient. Along with Pharmacotherapy, the Best point of service will inform the participant on the role of Centres of excellence, patients’ involvement in managing their own drugs during admission and the growing role of the hospital pharmacist in the outpatient setting.

All presentations are in the form of seminars, interactive sessions and workshops with presentations by two or three speakers, and include additional time for questions. Along with keynotes and seminars, there will be a presentation of the abstract poster award nominees and the Good Practice Initiatives (GPI’s). Workshops and Interactive sessions within the theme of the congress will also be held, providing inspiration within the areas of clinical pharmacy and medical devices, such as antibiotic stewardship, writing an abstract and others. Based on the success of last year’s congress, the Synergy program will continue with several relevant topics.

Join the 22nd EAHP Congress in Cannes, a town that does not need an introduction and where good living, culture and science come together, providing an ambient and friendly atmosphere for EAHP members and participants from around the world.
