• CANTO’s Connect the Caribbean Initiative has been created in support of the International Telecommunications Union’s Connect the World theme.

• CANTO members and regional leaders are determined that the Caribbean as a sub-region must achieve their collective ICT goals and not be lost in the initiatives for the wider Americas.

• Create a dialogue on accelerating the penetration and usage of broadband as a critical technology for innovation and as a means to increase productivity, growth and social inclusion for the region

• Seventy–five ICT experts and decision makers including Caribbean Government Ministers, regulators, representatives of regional organisations, operators, suppliers and civil society

• Creation of a document outlining the current state of broadband access/availability/coverage/penetration and recommendations on infrastructure requirements and regulatory policy, as informed by operators, regulators, governments, consumers and other stakeholders in the relevant IDB member countries

• Development of strategies to facilitate the wider adoption and deployment of ICT and use of e-business/e-commerce across SMEs and large businesses in order to increase competitiveness, efficiency, productivity and the promotion of innovation in the countries involved.
