Brief description of the project:At rail track no. 2, a brandnew benzene loading and a C6 unloading station were constructed, comprising theconstruction of a new building for the control centre and the equipment room, the construction of new loadingdocks, railroad construction, pump room and slop tank.Measurement registration is effected by mass flow rate controls and a measurement registration systemprovided by the company Mess- und Fördertechnik.

fiwa)group scope of work:Development of the infrastructure, electrical detail planning, detail planning of the measurement and controltechnology, development of the orders for technical equipment and services, coordination and supervision ofassembly, start-up, hand-over of the electrical installations to the client, coordination of acceptance proceduresand calibration, documentation and updating of all OMV documents regarding PMSX.

OMV - Replacement of alarm and reporting systemsDuration: 1998 - 2001

Brief description of the project:Outdated complex alarm and reporting systems (about 5,200 measurement points) with insufficient capacitiesrequired replacement by a new PLC system. The old PLC systems, stretching over two control stations, wereresponsible for the control of almost an entire refinery plant. Originally the single plant areas had not beenseparated consequently from each other; this, however, had to be reached by new facilities. New PLC systemseach dedicated to an individual plant had to be extended via communicational interfaces in order to form PMSXsystems. Coordination of a large BUS system with its addressing and tuning had to be realized.Concepts for power supply, cabling and disassembly have been developed so that the complete transformation

process could be completed und function properly within 3 weeks.

fiwa)group scope of work:Electrical measurement technology: Costing, detail-mechanical construction, preBasic PMSX, basic PMSX,detail PMSX, monitoring of timing, constructional expertise, device and plant specifications, provisioning, start-up, PLC/PMSX programming Additional requirements: Civil engineering: Switch house annexNote: With part of the original site documentation only very scarcely existing, intense site surveys, systemchecks and spontaneity were required.

OMV - Retrofitt ing / Expansion / Modernization of a biological sewage plantDuration: 1998 - 2001

Brief description of the project:In cooperation with a specialist company for sewage technology, this project was intended to be concluded withfiwa)group as sole responsible party without the client´s influence. All material, engineering and installation costshad to be pre-financed by fiwa)group. The duties and responsibilities selecting the complete equipment wereextremely substantial. The requirements ranged from selection of portable diesel aggregates to analysistechnology, filters, dosage, cable-transport, collector ring, energetic and control system concepts etc.The equipment installation, construction, quality control checks, start-up and cost management, covering theentire project had to be planned, managed and supervised until the final hand-over to the client.

fiwa)group scope of work:Electrical measurement technology: feasibility study, costing, detail-mechanical construction, preBasicPMSX, basic PMSX, detail PMSX, monitoring of project timing, constructional expertise, authorities andinstitutions certificates and acceptance, device and plant specifications, acquisition, start-up, PLC/PMSXprogramming.

Weighing technology: Filling level and weight measurement for containers/dryers Additional requirements:  Civil engineering: Switch house, laying of underground installations, new conception of post-purification basins, cyclators, biology.

Note: To meet the technical and commercial requirements a very high degree of responsibility was necessary,as many suppliers, constructional companies etc. not familiar with the high-level standards of a refinery planthad to be integrated into the project..

OMV – Modernization of the sewage treatment at OMV BurghausenDuration: 1997 – 1999

Brief description of the project:The sewage plant at OMV was adapted to the latest legal requirements and the state-of-the-art. Outdated controlsystems were replaced by new PLC systems, control houses enlarged, analysis technology was upgraded andthe field devices were substituted.

fiwa)group scope of work:Cooperation in basic engineering and development of infrastructure, electrotechnical detail planning, detailplanning of measurement and control technology, specification, development of the orders for technicalequipment and services, PMSX assembly, coordination and supervision of assembly, start-up, hand-over of theelectrical installations to the client, coordination of acceptance procedures and calibration, documentation andupdating of all OMV documents regarding PMSX.

OMV – New construct ion of two new soil-covered liquid gas tanks and the construc tion of anew C3 unloading stationDuration: 1997 - 1998

Brief description of the project:Due to the installation of two new soil-covered liquid gas tanks, OMV has increased the storage capacity by2000 m3. At the same time, two new C3 unloading stations were integrated into the liquid gas unloading station. For this purpose new unloading crane arms, different safety shut-off valves, PMSX and safety equipment and anew unloading pump were needed. The unloading performance was controlled via a control station at site.

fiwa)group scope of work:Cooperation in basic engineering and development of infrastructure, electrotechnical detail planning, detailplanning of measurement and control technology, specification and development of the orders for all technicalequipment and services, PMSX assembly, coordination and supervision of assembly, start-up, hand-over ofthe electrical installations to the client, coordination of acceptance procedures, documentation and updating ofall OMV documents regarding PMSX.

OMV - Tank drainage, tank foamingDuration: 1997

Brief description of the project:The „floating roofs“ of the tanks required the development of non-standardized functional procedures. Thisrequired a motor driven solution with control coming over the BUS-system.

Additional requirements:  Special construction of cable transport devices, oil detector, mechanical hook-ups for load carrying andboarding systems.

With this in mind, the required equipment for this operation (winch drive, cutting linkage and the controlhouse) had to be modernized. The planning not only required PMSX planning, but also general constructional expertise. On a platform 50to 85 meters high, a switch container, new PLC controls (S5), air-powered winch controls as well as theassembly and installation of a control center, were realized.
