Dear Friends:
This is once again a busy summer season. Check out the articles on our Swim Program, VBS, Elvis night, and the Labor Day retreat at Luther Glen. We have a few new changes at church as well.
Char Cable, who has been with us for over 4 years is moving back to Albuquerque, New Mexico where her extended family lives. We are planning a farewell luncheon for her at noon on Wednesday July 10th. The congregation is invited to attended and bring cards of “well wishes” for her and her family. She will be missed. We have hired a new office manager at church: Alison Aust. She goes by “Ali.” She began training with Char on June 17th for two weeks. She has written up an article introducing herself. Be sure to read it to get to know her better. We are thrilled to have her here and look forward to a long term relationship. Mortuary rental We are entering a lease agreement with Sunnyside Mortuary thanks to Jerry Englehardt, Gerry Hanson, and Peggy Frostad who helped with the negotiations. We are pleased to welcome Charles An, and his wife, Nina, and look forward to a long and successful relationship with them. Sunnyside is a Christian company that offers full funeral services, with a strong presence in the local Asian-American community. The mortuary will be leasing out the Youth Room as an office where they will meet with families who are planning funerals. As part of the lease agreement the mortuary may conduct up to 15 funerals per quarter (every 3 months). If there is a need for more funerals during any given quarter, there will be an additional charge. The mortuary will be paying $3000 per month for that usage. Some things you might want to know: -There are no embalming services or preparation of bodies on our site. -Funerals will be coordinated with our existing schedule. We will work together around existing programs. -The sanctuary will be reserved for Christian funerals only, the fellowship hall may be used for services of all faiths. -There will be no permanent signage for the mortuary. They will place lawn signs to direct visitors to the church during the times funerals are being conducted. One of the incentives for me in this agreement is that I will have the opportunity to conduct funerals for any Asian Christian families, where the family does not have a pastor. It is my hope that this can give us an outreach to the Asian families who are the majority in the community around the church. Funerals are a time when families are most open to consider involvement in local congregations. This agreement has the ability to BOTH help the church in outreach to unchurched families and provide financial stability to our congregation. We are constantly exploring ways to further our outreach and strengthen the ministry of Our Redeemer. God has blessed us with so many good people involved in service to our community and in sharing the good news with family and friends.
In Christ.

Mr. Kenneth Edward Serapin who proudly served in the Army Air Corps where he would be promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. He joined up with the 12th Air Force, 57th Bomb Wing, 340th Bomb Group, and the 488th Bomb Squadron stationed near Rimini Italy. In the spring of 1945 he was part of the B-25 Mitchell squadron and was engaged in attacks on targets in the Po Valley. Such brave pilots and crew who flew these missions during WWII, we thank them all for their service and are so glad to have Mr. Serapin and all the others join us for this trip. Ken Serapin was part of an honor flight to Washington DC to tour and see the Army Air Corps Memorial. Ken even got to see family while on the trip.
