ST. PETER PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

We, the believers of St. Peter Parish, having our beginnings as the earliest Catholic Church of the Archdiocese of New Orleans on the Northshore, in response to God's call, come together:

to love God and one another to worship as a faith community to be God's hands, heart and mind and to provide for our community's spiritual and

physical needs

In doing this, we glorify God and help realize His reign on earth. While rejoicing in the experience of our pilgrimage, we must ever keep in mind our ultimate destination through our faithful stewardship of time, talent and treasure. Called to be a prayerful and hospitable Catholic family of living faith, we welcome and invite all people to share in our unique gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Current Parish Events

Sunday, May 6th

During 11:30 a.m. Mass

All parish children are in-vited to bring fresh flowers to present to Our Lady.

First Communion children will lead the procession as we crown Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth.

St. Peter Parish seminarian, Andrew Rudmann, will be ordained by Archbishop Gregory Aymond as a Transitional Deacon on Saturday, May 19th, at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Cathedral. The ordination is open to all and a reception will follow at the Old Ursuline Convent/St. Mary’s Church. This is the next step for Andrew and seven of his classmates, Douglas Busch, Daniel Darmanin, Andrew Gutierrez, Daniel Okafor, Leon Poche, Jr., and Damian Zablocki for the Archdiocese of New Orleans and Ton Huu Dang for the Missionaries of Faith, as they continue discerning their call to the priesthood.

On Sunday, May 20th, Andrew will assist as a Deacon and give his first homily at our 11:30 a.m. Mass. A reception will follow in St. Mary’s Hall allowing Andrew to introduce his Ohio family to his adopted parish family.

Please continue to pray for on outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon Andrew and his classmates. (If attending the Ordination, early arrival is recommended to allow for a large crowd and French Quarter parking.)

The Vocation Committee of St. Peter Parish invites all women of the parish to commit to offer the graces of their Eucharist on every first Sunday of each month. All women are invited to embrace a life of spiritual motherhood by praying for an increase in religious vocations and by making a commitment to intercede both prayerfully and through mortifications for the holiness of existing vocations. This Sunday, May 6th, is the first Sunday of the month. May all women of the parish prayerfully consider this offering of graces.

Any young man or woman who may feel a call to the religious life is invited to contact Fr. Otis or Fr. Colm at the rectory, 985.892.2422 so they may support you through your discernment. They are committed to praying for you as you grow in knowledge of your vocation.

Rosary Sign-up for our Beloved Priests

Christ continues to love us and be present for us through the hands of His holy priests! Fr. Otis and Fr. Colm have of-fered their lives to God as a sacrifice for us, his people. They depend on our prayerful support to live faithfully their vocation in the midst of many challenges.

Please consider praying a Rosary, asking God for special graces for them to persevere in their priestly vocations. Sign-up sheets are in the back of Church. Thank You!

An Engaging Journey through the Bible

by Jeff Cavins and Sarah Christmyer

This four-part study provides the easiest way to understand the Bible. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible makes the complex simple. It helps you uncover the story woven throughout Scripture so that you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it is all about. The Bible is a story about the Father’s unfailing love for you - a love that you are now called to share with others.
