Grease Monkey presents Harvest Fest Fishing Derby7 - 10 a.m. • Grandview Ponds4401 E. 104th Ave.This event is open to children 4-12 years of age when accompanied by an adult. In addition to the natural lake inhabitants, the lake will be stocked with fish for this event. Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish caught in the following age categories: 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 year olds. A prize will also be awarded to the Most Authentic Fisherman! Participants must bring their own fishing pole, bait and supplies. All types of bait and lures are permitted. Cost is $1 per child.

Pancake Breakfast 7:30 - 9:30 a.m.• Thornton Active Adult Center 9471 Dorothy Blvd.The Active Adult Center will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for the community. The menu will include pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Fees: $4/adults and $2.50/seniors 55 and older and children 12 and younger.

Harvest Fest BazaarThe Bazaar will feature business, nonprofit and craft exhibitors. Experience great shopping venues provided by participating craft exhibitors, home businesses and other various vendors as well as discover an interesting array of exhibits from local businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The Great Chili Cook-OffBenefiting Marc Jr. Foundation 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.The Great Chili Cook-Off will combine the warm flavors of some of the area’s great chili and the warm feeling of making a charitable donation to the Marc Jr. Foundation. Tasting is a $5 donation per person, $20 per family (up to 5 people.) Tasting includes chips and a bottle of water. Awards presentation on the Cultural Expedition Stage at 4 p.m.

Skatepark Competition11 a.m. - 5 p.m.The Thornton Skatepark comes alive with the thrill of competition for scooters, bike riders and skateboarders! There are three skill levels for scooter, bike and skateboard divisions. Registration fee is $10 and registration begins at 10:30 a.m. A waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.

Kidz ZoneFollow the laughter to the Kidz Zone! This area is full of fun and activities geared-toward-children, including carnival inflatables, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting and walk-around entertainment! Many of the activities will be free, but some will have a small fee.

Cultural ExpeditionJoin us on a Wildlife and Nature journey to the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia! Come to the Cultural Expedition area for crafts, activities, incredible performances and to celebrate these diverse cultures.

Food CourtEnjoy the full festival experience by partaking in the assortment of menu items provided by our food vendors. From hotdogs and burritos to funnel cakes and ice cream, there is something for every palate.

Beer GardenAdults age 21 and over are invited to stop in and enjoy the beer garden to socialize with other adults, while enjoying an ice-cold beverage! Three-drink limit per person and a photo ID will be required to enter.

COOK-OFF PARTICIPANTS MUST PROVIDE: 1) Three gallons of PRE-MADE CHILI. No cooking on site will be allowed. 2) Fun decorations for your area! 3) Cooler to keep extra chili refrigerated 4) Crockpot to keep chili warm

CONTESTANTS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH: 1) Electricity for crockpots. (NO open flame stoves) 2) Small tasting cups/spoons 3) One 6-foot table

JUDGING: Judging sheets will be provided to each paying participant. The judging will be based on four categories “Best Red,” “Best Green,” “Best Cowboy/Bean,” and “Best Table Display.” Ultimately, it will come down to the public tasting the chili and voting based on the best overall taste in each category. Prizes are awarded to the winners at 4 p.m. Must be present to win. Each entrant will be assigned a number on the day of the event that will appear on the official judging sheet.Prizes by Pampered Chef. First place winners in each category will receive an Indoor/Outdoor Grill!

CARLOS WASHINGTON’S STEEL HORSE SWING ◆ 11 - 11:45 a.m. This group mixes western swing with rodeo and cowboy classics. Reminiscent of Bob Wills; Hank Thompson; great swing bands of yesteryear; they celebrate a musical legacy that is timeless. They are recipients of the 2018-Will Rogers Award, Top 5 IWMA/ PCCAA for Male Vocalist, Group, Song and Album of the Year.

ONDA ◆ 12 - 1 p.m.ONDA (Spanish for VIBE) is a Latin dance band based out of Nederland. This group that brings an energetic, eclectic mix of classic Latin standards, cumbias, salsa, reggae, Latin jazz, funk and original jams. This “fusion” project is steeped in Afro-Cuban rhythms and features music from many Latin countries. Onda’s mission is to “entertain, enlighten, educate and include” all those who experience and enjoy this wonderful music.

DELTA SONICS ◆ 1:15 - 2:15 p.m.Voted Westword’s best blues band in Denver the last six of seven years, the Delta Sonics take a Chicago Blues base and seasons it with Swing, Delta, N’awlins R&B and some early Rock ‘n’ Roll!

JOURNEY GIRLS ◆ 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.Denver’s all female Journey Tribute Band Journey Girls celebrate songs that have become arena rock staples. Go back in time with Journey Girls and be witness to artful, intense, melodic rock music played with passionate musicianship.

COLORADO BHANGRA TEAM 1:30 p.m.This is Colorado’s official state and only competitive team. Bhangra dance is a folk dance that originated in Punjab, India. Traditionally, men wear turbans and women wear the respective ‘churi daar or salwaar kaameej’. The dance itself is very exciting, lively, and vibrant!

GRUPO TLALOC DANZA AZTECA 3 p.m.Based out of Denver, Grupo Tlaloc Danza Azteca is a traditional Mexica/Azteca group embodied of Chicano/Mexicano families and students of all ages dedicated to preserving and nourishing the ancient knowledge of their ancestors. Grupo Tlaloc Danza Azteca is the first and oldest group of its kind to flourish in the Denver area with a track record of 35 years.
