To insure our location was the correct choice, we had to research about our location and for this we had to take a trip to Central London. Our group then finalized what day we wanted to go and we left with all the equipment’s, which we needed. When we went out to research about our chosen location we had to keep in mind about the logistics, which we had to be aware of. On the day we went for our research we arrived in Central London at around 12, from there we walked around the walk path of the River Thames. From the whole trip to Central London we noticed what time it was started to get dark, what time of day it’s crowded and when it’s less crowded. After visiting our location, we decided that it would be perfect to shoot between 10-4 and maybe take a break at around 1-2 because this is when Central London is crowded the most as it’s the peak time of lunch. We will make sure we take full advantage when there are fewer crowds because Central London is known to be very crowded and the crowd can interfere with our shooting. After 4 its starts to get darker and it would not be good to carry on as it would ruin of flow of continuity editing in terms of lighting. Our filming will be done in December, meaning it will rain and snow as well as the weather being very dull. However when we went to carry out our research we noticed that the dull weather would fit in well with our film, as it would connote the mood of our actor. We would avoid shooting on rainy days. This is because it will ruin the looks of our actors, and the overall recorded footage. In terms of lighting, we will not be using any external lighting and will make the most of the natural lighting. This is because we want to use more natural light, to keep our film opening realistic. We have realized that our chosen location does establish our genre, action. This is because there were a few points of the location, which connoted the conventions of an action film. Whenever an action film consists a run chase, the film would show a wide shot, and this shot would connote the location and nearby atmosphere with a natural looking setup various

We have chosen Central London as our preferred location to where we will shoot and record our film opening.

Whenever an action film consists a run chase, the film would show a wide shot, and this shot would connote the location and nearby atmosphere with a natural looking setup various people/crowd walking by. This connotes that the chase is happening in a busy area, making the run chase look more interesting. So from our location we will try to use some part of the crowd in our opening to make our run chase more interesting.

There are a few pros and cons about our preferred location, which we picked out. Some of the pros we picked out about our location, which was that, our location is a well-known place in London and is known to have a lot of tourist attractions to which people can tell its Central London, such as the London Eye, Big Ben and Tower Bridge. The location is spacious, meaning we can use a range of locations if some of our chosen location does not fit in. Central London tends to be crowded, regardless of it being a weekend or weekday. The use of a lot of people in our film can make our film opening more realistic and give an overall natural look.

Some of the cons, which we picked out from our locations, were that due to our location being crowded, we might have to stop in between our shots as there may be people walking across the actors and camera and this could take a while before we start shooting again. Another point, which may be a disadvantage to us, is that we may get stopped by police’s or local securities. We could be told to stop filming and may be asked as to why we are filming. The final point as to where there may be a problem would be the fact that we are shooting in December meaning it would be cold and very windy. So this may cause a problem to our actors as Central London is an open space and there could be gusts of wind, which may cause our actors to stop due to the fact that the wind is blowing towards them.

Overall from our research of Central London, we have found that this would be best location suitable to match our genre. The fact that Central London is spacious and very big, we can use various different shots from various spots and angles to make our film opening professional.
