2. What surfaces first and why?

Vertical! If an occlusal rest (horizontal) was done firstyou would destroy the rest contour when you did guide planesand then would have to go back and remodify your rest. Think about it!



What modifications can be made on a vertical surface?1. Guide planes: know their locations on a tooth?2. Improve retentive areas…add or remove.3. Reduce insertion interferences.4. Lower survey lines.



What modifications can be made on horizontal surfaces?



What depth are occlusal rests prepared to?
