Here are some of the exciting

things we have been doing in

Room 5 to help us become great

readers.

We are practising our reading so we become better readers.

Some games help us learn to recognise words quickly.

Some card activities help us learn our words or alphabet letter names and sounds.

But we also use Ipad activities to help us learn our words or alphabet letter names and sounds.

WordsearchFinding high fluency words to help us remember the words.

One group read the story “Locked Out” with the teacher and talked about the story to make sure they understood what they had read.Then reassembled the text to show their understanding of the text.

We enjoy reading and sharing books and poems, in the class library.

We read with Whaea Marian to learn new strategies to help us become better readers.

Knowing how to write also helps our reading.

We are practising writing our high

fluency words so we can write and

recognise the words quickly.
